Arguments have arisen through several threads about whether you can or cannot put away your dual wielded weapons and pull both of them back out again. Since most of those posts are dead now I'll give you the proof here.

This is a quote from the write up of one of the teams who won the Mt. Dew contest, and got to play Halo 2 for 3 hours:

The other new feature - dual wielding. This is a pretty sweet feature. Unfortunately for myself, I don't think I utilized this feature enough. I generally dual wielded about once a game. Hold Y over any weapon you can dual wield, and you'll pick it up. Bang, dual wielding. Press Y to switch to your other weapon. So for instance, you could be dual-wielding an SMG and Needler, with Rockets in waiting. However if you switch to your rocket launcher, you'll drop the second dual wielding weapon you picked up.

There you have it, whether it's the exact same build as the E3 2k4 version or the newest build it doesnt matter, cause you can't stash your dual wielded weapons.

In the E3 single player video, MC puts away his SMGs and takes out the Battle Rifle, then when confronting a Ghost he switches back to them. BOTH of them are still there. However, it might have changed between then and the Mountain Dew test.

Im kind of happy about that, holstering 2 guns on your body while using another seems wierd, and I like dual wielding but I wouldn't like it if everyone was dual wielding the entire game. Everyone would be holding 2 weapons.

Enemeis in that videos also died in one or two shots, you were invinceable, had unlimitammo and it was all scripted. That level won't even be in the game. A level similar and with same name will.

I think he was talking about the MP demo this year. And I remember having a discussion about the vid where it seems that he pulls out the dual smgs from nowhere. I dont remember which way the discussion went, but regardles, in the actual gameplay demo tht everyone has played, you cannot stash your dual wield.

Yeah and in the E3 the Covenant obviously didnt have AI or they just had AI to at least shoot you and thats it. And the brute took like 3 melees whish obviously wont be like that.

you can put you two guns away and have another gun thats 3 guns

Did you even read my post? that's a direct quote from someone who has actually played the game. He knows more about it than any of us hope to right now, you CANNOT put your dual wield away.

The only time you have 3 guns is when you are dual wielding and firing, but when you switch TO your third gun, you drop one of the others.

Common Sense folks

that quote does not say that this is true for mulitplayer and single player though. putting a dual wield isnt that weird... he just has three straps around his neck, two for the dual wielded weapons and one for the big gun on his back. when he takes out the rifle or whatever is on his back, he just puts the two weapons to his sides. i dont think itll be possible in multiplayer, but i think it will be able to put the dual wielded weapons away and bring them back

I can see how it might be possible in SP, but it'd be ridiculous in MP. As Solo stated, the game would quickly turn into a bunch of people carrying two weapons around, that's stupid. I like how dual wielding seems like it's gonna be a temporary boost to your attack, all john woo style, and not a significant tactical measure. Although a plasma pistol and SMG (or even plasma rifle and SMG) sounds like a pretty damn formidable opponent.

PS. We dont know how powerful the Plasma Pistol is anymore, it might not take out shields in one charge, but even if it does, you still have health, whether you've heard otherwise or not. Dont freak
