Once again, Custom databases do not count. The question is about which pre-made databases you would like. At least that's the sense I get from the post.
This is correct. The custom databases are the ones that were having the most problems with - they don't scale well for various reasons. It is very likely the custom rows db will not come back, and the custom columns database is also on shaky ground.
My current list is Articles, Contact Info, FAQ/QA (they serve the same purpose), Guestbook, Link list, and Gametype. There will probably be one more, and I'm trying to put the custom columns one in there. But the point of the question is to see if there is anything else that would be useful, especially if the custom columns can't make it in.
It should be noted that databases are going to work significantly different than before for the sake of scalability. You won't really create a database, you are simply given 7(!) "resource repositories", 1 for each db type. Each row of data has its own visibility - meaning I can set one article in my Article Repository to be staff only, another to be public, and so on.
That architecture is troublesome to use for the custom columns type. Unfortunately, it is a necessary change for the user database feature (now called user resources, by the way) to continue to exist in a post-Halo 2 7th Column.
Oh, as for transferring data - yes, we'll try to migrate some of it. But the rest will be available for download so you don't lose the data, probably in XML form (it is the most flexible). Unless, of course, you'd like some different kind of export format.
Anyway, that is the true nature of question Sketchfactor asked. Yes, it sucks in some ways, but considering how close the 7th Column is to collasping under its own weight right now, the redesign and reimplementation is very necessary.
