okay, I recently upgraded my graphics card from an integrated geforce4mx to a bfg geforce 6800 GT agp. It plays all other games much better, and is by far a better card. The only game that gives me issues is HaloPC. It makes these strange lines appear all over the screen from one place to another, and it is really strange. Microsoft and BFG tell me to update drivers and reboot, and that has done nothing. If anyone could help me that would be great.

Yo

You must make sure that your mother board is as upgraded so that the Graphics card can be delt with. 'Cos you've got a good card, you might not have a good mother + chip ex. But when you buy / upgrade a mother board. But then again, cos Halo wasnt top of the top when it came out, it generally did have some issues, it isn't the best bug free game out there.

Spartan 012.

I had thought of that, but since all other games performed perfectly-half-life2, Cod UO, UT04,etc, I thought it might be a problem with halo. I have an AU31 motherboard, and Im not quite sure I want to try to update its BIOS/firmware.

Halo is known to have very strange issues with nvidia cards. Have you searched the microsoft knowledge base for your issue?

problem solved-sort of. Since my card is made by BFG, which we all know is known for its cards being out-of-the-box overclocked. Well it seems that if I underclock the card to 350(which is the default for the 6800) even though it came at 370 out-of-the-box, it ends the problem. It appears that some feature in HaloPC hates being overclocked, thx all for the help, and I hope bungie helps me here.

I guess I'm lucky to have my Radeon X300 SE, somewhat. I overclocked the core from 324 to 450, and memory overclocked from 196-225 (memory is a little more picky than core) with no apparent problems yet. Basically, I'm saying that ATi is probably (from my experience) more tolerant to overclocking than Nvidia.

Well, ever since the 9600 release of cards, they support Overclocking.
