The Halo community has rallied to help those in need and with your help we're coming close to raising $100,000 for the Red Cross to aid in disaster relief. Help us spread the word and tell everyone you know to buy a shirt!

As we mentioned in last weeks update, we are also working on a special charity auction with our friends at halo.bungie.org that will kick off soon. We'll have lots more to say about that real soon!

Thanks again to everyone for lending a helping hand. Remember there are many ways to help, if you can't buy a shirt, call the Red Cross directly (or any other relief agency) and ask what you can do to help. Money is usually the easiest and quickest way but that's not always the only option.

Wow that's incredible, way to go Bungie!! And same to all of you in the community that bought shirts; almost $100,000 to help the people down there, coming from $15 per shirt. This better make some news and show the true power of Bungie's Underground Army!

Wow... That is awesome! My school was also doing a hurricane relief fund. We raised about $24500. We got donations from Papa Johns and we even got some from the mayor of our town (Worthington, Ohio) who visited our school personally.

I heard something similar, conserning how much the Red Cross takes. Its a shame, really. The executives of the Red Cross are the highest paid of all non-profit organizations. And I bought two shirts. I kinda wish I knew that $30 was really going to help people, not give Mr. CEO a Christmas bonus.

I still think Bungie's totally freaking awesome for doing this though.

Penny Arcade is auctioning an original piece of artwork on Ebay, with 100% of the final sale price going to the Red Cross. The starting bid: $50. Current bid: $8800. Gamers got heart, man.

Thanks again Bungie.

Are there any participating stores that are selling these shirts? Any in Canada? I think I've seen Halo shirts at a store somewhere, but those might be rip-offs...

You should look into these things instead of just passing them on.

American Red Cross

91.1% goes right to people in need and the programs that deliver food, shelter, etc.
5.4% goes to administrative costs (salaries, overhead, meetings, etc.)
3.5% goes to fundraising (making/airing commercials, handing out fliers, etc. asking for money)

The CEO only makes 0.01% of the total functional expenses.

That means your 60% number is actually only somewhere between 5.4% and 8.9% (Depending on whether you think fundraising counts in the "taking the money" part.)

I just wanted to thank ya guys for all the help you are doing... most people dont realize how catastrophic this storm was. All the bungie.net members are really helping out more then they think. so keep up the good work, and lets all hope that New Orleans, and all the other disaster areas can be revived. ( revived spelled right isnt it!?)
