All my opinion.

Flood scared me first time I saw them.
Then I got better and saw how fun and easy they are to fight.

By the Sacred Rings we shall Prevail!

Halo was a game that changed the face of gaming forever! I still Play CE to this day. in my opinion, the final run was the very pinnacle of the Halo experiance. as you start driving, cortana tells you that you just single handedly assured the destruction of halo and to run like hell. you see that timer start up and you feel challanged to survive and get that burst of adrenalin. your driving through a well thought out track to test your skill. to add to the mix you are pounded by constent enemy fire. then at the end, when you make that first mindnumbing jump, your heart skips a beat! then you make that second jump and it feels like success. you hit the barricades and leap from your car rocket in hand. two rockets for the shades to the left and right. then shotgun your way to the longsword. then wacth as the fruits of your labor bloom in fire! Best way to end a game ever!

If it was live supported, our stats should also show our fastest run time (The maximum, I believe, allowing for the last part, is 6 mins + 1:40 + ~10 = 7 mins 50 seconds.)

That would just be baller to see:

randomnoob
Rank: Lieutenant Grade 2
Campaign Status: Finished the Fight!
Best Warthog Run: 6 minutes 42 seconds

Yeah, the timing function on the section is a little weird due to the clock stop. That's why High Speed Halo's Warthog Run record is listed in time left on the clock, Legendary difficulty only (current record is listed as 1:52.96), instead of total time taken.

While The Maw isn't my favorite level in the game, the most memorable moments I've had were playing it; I'm not sure if the opening cutscene or the ending one hit me harder the first time. Both are fantastic.

Check out my Gaming Rig on EVGA Mod Rigs.

November 15, 2001 - Playing through campaign for the first time through with my next door neighbor. This started it all for me and here were are almost 9 years later and I'm still playing Halo.

Agreed.

I mean, for me the Maw actually takes a backseat to the PoA because I still remember that moment in 2002 when I just got into the story, but the Maw has its own cadre of memories that I treasure to death.

MB for the timing function it could have a little symbol displaying the highest difficulty you ever did the run on and then the best time for specifically that difficulty?

Getting to the platform in time to be picked up by FoeHammer. Only to see her crash and burn. My heart sank_I felt like crying. I thought Bungie had Effed me super good.

For now, I'll vote Big Grunty Thirst, since it's funny. :P

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

Well I was 12 in November of 2001 when I purchased this game. So when the Flood attacked me I got REAL scared. Had to turn the lights on in my room.

Same, but I'm younger than you. The flood were scary for me in Halo CE and Halo 2.

I'm not sure what to vote for really...all epic moments.

Great everything, everybody. My vote's for the 660 though. The somewhat unloved and underrated AR was a Flood stopper, Infection popper, and Jackal dropper. That bottleneck before the grav lift...what a great place to unleash it. One of the few times you really felt some C-2 in the game.

The dropship glitch on the level halo you gotta love 70+ and all you got is a sniper

  • 08.04.2010 8:58 PM PDT

All of these. CE had the best campaign ever.

Playing legendary co-op on The Maw is not only one of the best halo experiences ever, but one of my favourite ever experiences in any game.

At the time, I was around 14 or 15 and used to go to my friend's house to play split-screen co-op. Now I have a shiny new copy of my own and can try all over again!

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

The best part was exploring the vast environments.
