You do not drop the SMG's if you switch to the sniper. Watch the 8 minute demo, he dual-wields SMG's and has the Battle Rifle stashed away, he uses the SMG's for a while then later on he uses the battle rifle to shoot up some Jackals, then before he's about to board a Ghost he whips out the SMG's again.

Yeah you're right i never actually caught onto that. I don't think they kept that though. They may just make you drop the second gun in your hand when you switch. oh well in either case, I wouldn't mind.

since you only need one hand to weild the energy sword, does that mean you can duel weild them? (probably not but it would be fun to do)

No you DO drop the other SMG, read this.

The other new feature - dual wielding. This is a pretty sweet feature. Unfortunately for myself, I don't think I utilized this feature enough. I generally dual wielded about once a game. Hold Y over any weapon you can dual wield, and you'll pick it up. Bang, dual wielding. Press Y to switch to your other weapon. So for instance, you could be dual-wielding an SMG and Needler, with Rockets in waiting. However if you switch to your rocket launcher, you'll drop the second dual wielding weapon you picked up.

That's a quote from the write up of the Mt. Dew winners, who played the MP demo for 3 hours.

yes that 8 minute demo you are talking about is over a year old so a lot of it has changed.

Yeah, back then, dual-weilding wasn't all red faction style and the battle rifle always fired single fire. I wouldn't use that video for information anymore.

I hope they change that, imean yeah you can go back and pick it up but still its a pain, the e3 03 demo was perfect in my opinion, the e3 04 demo i didnt like as much i think they need to go back it would make it alot better but still it wont be too big an issue

yeah but then dual-wielding might get a little over-balanced.
