Subject: Here is a simple explanation of what bungie has done and for us.

Just because you can't play as the Master Chief...

  • 08.04.2010 5:56 AM PDT

Better to surprise than to disappoint.

I don't see what you're so pissed off about.
You're acting as if Bungie took everything and took it down a hole, beat it with a club, and said it wasn't changed.
Instead, Bungie combined all of the the good things from the previous Halo games and mixed them together while still fixing the errors.
Compare Reach and Halo 3, the only different is that Bungie fixed a bunch of problems and added new cool things.
It's now very similar Halo 1 which if you ask -Blam near- any Halo fan who's played that long was the best one.
Where weapons did what they were supposed to do, they all had power, some more than others, you knew you were a supersoldier, you really felt it.
The difference yet similarities in all weapons gave a balance.

Halo 3 in my opinion, sucked.
I play it now because it's got the new features and I can actually play it online. I still love the game, but Bungie messed it up. They reduced damage on a lot of things because apparently explosions shouldn't kill you and maulers were overpowered because everyone could get something that gave them an edge. It was like the pistol from Halo 1. They called it the Equalizer because no matter what they had, the pistol could take you out, so what happened? Bungi nerfed it to hell because it was what the people wanted, the pistol sucked for the next few Halo games. Same with explosive damage, In Halo 1, grenades and rockets would mess you up if you got too close, and Master Chief could chuck grenades across canyons. Now the pistol is badass again, and grenades do or atleast did, kill like they should, they're damned explosions. Don't whine because something has a purpose or make sense, just use it to your advantage like intended, it's not overly cheap, it just makes sense.

Like loadouts, I don't see your problem with them.
Instead of everyone being spawned witht the AR to be slaughtered by anyone who picked up anything else, you get to choose what you want.
You can go with a weapon and AA to suit what you need, like Camo because that guy won't stop sniping you or Armor Lock to mess with the sword guy.

Accept the new, it's taken all the good into one big super good. Kicked the bad, and fixed glitches.

EDIT: And the reason it's called Halo: Reach is because it's in the Halo universe, you read stuff about Halo because that is the setting for it, not because every single thing about it needs to be on a Halo ring, that's just stupid. The fall of Reach is a vital story element to the Halo universe, it's why most of the Spartans are dead and why Master Chief was so important.

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

I dont think you got it, Reach is NOT a halo game. yea it could be a good game but it should not have the name halo in it

...Halo: Reach is called Halo: Reach because it's a Halo game made by the people who originally made Halo.
If you just want to rant about Reach, why don't you just go into the Halo: Reach forum?

Because he's afraid people in the Reach forum will rip him a new one.

What you all have to remember is you are not the ones making the games, not the ones owning the game studio and not the ones who created the halo series. They decide if its a halo game. They say it is so it is. Also, just because you dont like it, it doesnt mean you should go on a forum about the game (if you hated it you wouldnt even bother) and start telling us we should hate it because you do.

true that

i personally think that Reach will be an awesome game, but if you're hoping for the exact story, don't get your hopes up.

when people think of Halo, most of the time it's the online play, not about the story within the campaign.
that being said, the mass majority of people would not really be interested in playing a game that is extremely depressing, with the only happy ending of master chief escaping while everyone else dies.
so of course, to meet popular demand, bungie will tweak the story, add in some comic relief, and still make millions.

the story of reach is outrageously morbid, and i really wish bungie would stick to it. but it's very doubtful.
then again, i could be wrong. but from reviews i've read, there have been random acts of comic relief to lighten the mood of the entire game. no thanks.

the online play will be like halo 3, just with techy advances to make people go 'holy -blam!- thats awesome.' example: jet packs. that shield bull-blam!-.
it'll basically be the same. awesome to play, but i don't think it'll make any huge strides in the fps gaming industry.

This discussion is pointless.

1.Halo: Reach is in fact a Halo game.

2.The part where you went to the subject of cars was stupid.

3.The Beta was a test of the use of a server based connection instead of relying on the players connections.

4.The Beta can, will, and has been fixed.

5.I was never, EVER expecting a load-outs on Halo! I know my next statement will get flamed for being similar to Call of Duty but I really wouldn't mind custom load-outs.

Without saying BR, tell me what is so bad about Reach?

Also, yes...they do more...lots more...

Your 3rd point almost caused a stroke when I read it...are you serious?

1. Of course I can. First off, it's full of gimmicks. The loadouts are essentially useless, especially the shield one. They add nothing of any true significance to gameplay and are essentially there to make people go "Wow, cool!" and buy the product. Yes, that's what Bungie wants to do, but by the same token, don't they owe something to their loyal followers who have been with them since the beginning?

Second, the movement speed and overall feel of the Reach Beta was wonky. It was as though the gamer was disconnected from the in-game environment (this isn't just my opinion.) Furthermore, the maps available were -blam!- ( while this doesn't entirely reflect the final product, it certainly partially does so), and were essentially one sided. What would you rather do, spawn down bottom on Powerhouse, without the height advantage or much cover, or spawn up top with buildings, a height advantage, and rockets (which by the way were WAY overpowered, but I won't get into that.)

As for the fat girls doing more thing...more isn't always better. Surely you're mature enough to realize this. I'd take a kiss from a girl that I actually liked over random sex with an obese chick any day of the week.

Finally, how does Reach not seem to stray far away from the other Halo games? Especially the loadouts, which are an entirely new (and IMO stupid) addition.

ITS A BETA!!! lol
