"This bandicoot will be my general, he will lead my Cortex Commandos to world domination...

This time, I shall reign TRIUMPHANT!"

-Dr. Cortex

So, basically, after a long time, I decided to fire up my Halo PC. I had to reinstall it, because, obviously, I deleted it after not playing it for some time.

I progressed to start the game up, and the message comes up, stating that my computer's video hardware does not meet requirements. I click "continue anyways" and check the "do not show this message again" box, like I did when I had installed it the first time.

I noticed that update 1.09 is mandatory, and I update. The game plays as usual, but there's one small problem.

Whenever I play, there are these stretched out figures of random colors. I can't exactly explain it well, and I'm sorry that I cannot provide a picture. They look like triangles of random colors stretched out from the top left side of my screen. This never happened before, and I am lead to believe that possibly the update had something to do with it. I'm not sure.

Is it my video hardware that is making it do this? Is there something else wrong with my computer? Is it the update? Please. Any help will do.

Also, sorry if this kind of thread is not supposed to be posted here. I'm sort of new to this Forum, as it is my first time posting a thread here.

Grenades are like RAM, you can never have too much

seems like youre getting artifacts, if you didnt get this before its probably your graphics card overheating and or dying
post system specs.

What kind of graphics card do you have? Also specify what operating system you are using.

I doubt it's the update v1.09 that is causing the triangles of color. But I could be wrong.

As said, it sounds suspiciously like artifacts from an overheating (at least that's the most common cause) graphics card.

Does it happen as soon as you enter the game, or does it take a while before manifesting?

It happens after about ten minutes of playing. For example, I'll join a game, and nothing's wrong, but when I go to join another game, it happens. And it's terrible. It just has spasms all over my screen.

I think it could be my graphics card. It has had problems with other games in the past. I play on a Compaq C500 Notebook that runs on a Vista Home OS. I'll have to check the graphics card soon; it got a "virus" about an hour after this happened. I know that it doesn't pertain to this problem, though.

if it happens later into playing, its most definitely an overheating problem laptops dont have many cooling options, are you putting it down on a soft surface? (carpet, couch, lap)
feel the bottom then start up CE wait for the artifacts to show up, and feel it again if its abnormally hot, thats your problem im sure you could find a few cooling solutions on google

Thanks for the info. Right now, my laptop is going through some procedures to get rid of this annoying "virus". I'll look into doing so when I get it back. My laptop has had graphic related problems before, but it was due to barely reaching the requirements. This probably is the case. I planned on getting a new laptop, anyways, and handing this one to someone who can use it for something else.

Again, thanks for your help.
