Halo 2 was severely rushed and it really shows, if only the team had spent the time more wisely.
Pretty harsh there.
I could cite a 14 minute Mythic Legendary level, or the ugliest and most pointlessly irritating level in the world as demonstration of a rushed product, but, I still love 3. I'd rather keep in mind 2's massively long levels and innovations we all now take for granted...dual wielding, boarding, weapons swapping, Wraith piloting, allies that will accept assigned seating, vehicles that handle like something besides a pile of bricks, swords, Arbiter, Covenant culture, Jackal snipers, skulls... I think 2 is the middle child we tend to overlook.
Look at the video and tell me you wouldn't rather have that than the one we got. :)
I definitely feel you on that idea. Back in the day, I was shedding man tears in expectation of the absurd greatness 2 was going to encompass. Loved the Jackal Roman shield maneuver and the "Betcha can't stick it" epicness of it all. 2 was going to be the greatest thing ever... Now, I think it kind of compares to L4D's intro versus the actual gameplay. In reality, everything that's promised in the render is actually in the game, it just doesn't come off as awesomely. Minus the cool camera angles, you're firing at tanks and pulling buddies out of harm's way. 2 is the same for me - shows some stuff and you get to do it. Maybe it doesn't come off as cool as the video, but I still think it's pretty much the greatest thing ever.
