So like any true Halo fan, I've reserved Halo 2. But now that it's almost here I need to get ready for it. And by that I mean, buy something so that my Halo 2 experience will be graphically/surrond sound better. I'm going to post what I have to work with and maybe some nice people on here could tell me what to use and what to buy to get the most out of Halo2. Here is what I have. One TV near my internet connection where I play my Xbox Live games. This TV is an old RCA with only one Video Input and one Audio Input. It doesn't even allow for the red cable to go in just the white and yellow. Next to that TV I have a nice computer with a 4.1 surround sound and audio card to support it. The monitor is a flat screen LCD 17in. My question is if I might be able to use my monitor to play Halo 2 on? I can't use my surrond sound on my TV and I don't have that kind of money to buy it. I also have a VGA monitor in my basement that no one uses. It might work if I buy that 70 dollar VGA monitor thing. So what I'm asking is -

Does Halo 2 support a 4.1 if it supports a 5.1 surround sound?
How would I connect my Halo 2 Xbox to the surround sound?
Is there a connector that will allow me to play it on a flat screen LCD with a graphics card?
Should I just buy that VGA thing and bring my old monitor up to my room?

Thanks a lot.. I'm a noob so maybe you could help me out and answer these questions for me...!!!

Since most computer monitors support 480p (HALO 2 resolution) as well as 1080i or 1080p, you can use your monitor to play xbox games on using this handy adapter or others like it. Spend $70 bucks on this and you don't have to buy a $400 TV. Sorry guys, but this was all on the frontpage news story on Bungie.net.....I'd love to take credit but its been there for a week.

Hehe. for the last three months my friend and I have been converting an old storage room at my house into a Halo-friendly game room. The tile and drywall has nearly been completed, then we're gonna paint and furnish the thing. We spent hours running LAN cable and 5.1 surround cable throuygh the crawlspace and walls, so as soon as HALO 2 comes out, we'll be wired and ready... just have to find a sound system we can afford now!

I cant believe you are only buying it because of Halo 2 - didnt you hear the great sound from Halo in surround sound? I have had surround sound from the day i got the Xbox - constantly improving though - i got new one the other day - Can i just say TEAC is a great sound company! - take a look at them. bye

I'm broke, I'm lazy, and my TV is spazzing out. So I'm going to try to find a replacement on the cheap. I might get an out of box special or a yard sale POS and that is the extent of my preperations.

Summer jobs may suck, but summer jobs = cash also. only two weeks to school, then no more work except after hours...

i just recently added a subwoofer to my 5.1 setup and it sounds so friggin awesome with HALO. the guns sound very realistic with that added bass. and just surround sound in general really adds to the overall game experience.

To bad I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest job is 45 minutes drive away and I don't have my own car. Plus the store isn't in the best area and I would probably get myself shot in a holdup.

hey dont trash those yardsale POS's. i have found a nice TV at a yardsale that i still use to this day. its an old mono Zenith but the picture is still good compared to how old it is. i live very close to a place called Jupiter Island in Florida and it was deemed one of the richest islands in the world. you would believe some of the stuff people throw away there. my brother found a 26 inch S-Video TV sitting out in there trash. he got it for free of course.i find some sweet stuff.

OK. My TV is a yard sale POS I've had it for three years and I paid a dollar for it because it wasn't working when I bought it. I fixed it up and it worked fine until now. Now it spazzes out everytime you change the channel or when it goes above 80 degrees in the house.

yeah. jobs bring trouble too, esp. working for a city parks and rec. section. They lost all my paperwork and I didn't get to work most of the summer. btw I wasn't implying you were lazy or anything else. Just remarking about summer jobs. thats all.
