Back in the days when Halo might have been a third person shooter, Bungie released a 9:42 second long demo video at E3 2000, and while the voices changed, and the models shaped up a bit, the game seemed shockingly similar.

Plus, that video is just amazing - I don't have a link, I'm downloading it currently from a P2P program, if anyone here knows what I'm talking about, speak up! I'll do my best to find a link, but be warned, the video is 160 Megs!

EDIT: Found a link fast.

Yeah, the voices in that video are completely different.

If anyone is cool, it's McCleese. That guy rocks.

Oh, wait, I forgot!

MC: "Enemy Airborne Battalion inbound. Let's get you on board."
Marine: "..You're staying?!"
MC: "Yes. My battle has just begun."

Even with relatively low-res graphics, even with old models of the MC, talking Elites, a lack of grunts, and a third person perspective, the whole thing is familiar, and brilliant. I love Halo.

Ach! Was ist los?

Actually, Halo was first-person by that point, as can be seen in the "Making of Halo" documentary; the E3 200 trailer is one big cut-scene.

As much as it has better graphics now, it was better in many ways back then.

I saw that about a month ago, and it is awesome. I like how the Banshees have rudders.

BobBQ - Thank you for answering that question. I had been pondering (headwise) whether it was FP or TP at that time. I suppose I could've just watched the doc, but I've been out. Thanks.

Yeah Ops, I noticed that too. That was awesome.

Personally, I think the sniping noise was the true highlight of the video, that was awesome.

Though, little things I noticed - it's the same sound effect from the same 3D spot every time the Hog skids or hits the ground, the Pelican skipped 2-3 frames when we first see it, and a LOT of the animation was very loose and bumpy. In aspects such as that, and just general graphics, Halo became far better. I hesitate to say that was cooler - I mean, the rocket hogs, the sword, we're gonna have it all now.

I heard somewhere, either in the documentary or IGN, or something, that Halo was going to be a much larger game, not just the extras, like the sword and the rockets etc... But all around bigger, more levels, more enemies, more storyline, but since it was due for XB release, they cut it basically in half, now they've had the time they needed to finish the other half, and make it (generally) the way they want to. That's what I heard, anyway.

Still, at any rate, that video is awesome. 9:42 of gold.
