That weapon he holds is a grenade launcher, and it's more logical to fire an ovulated grenade rather then a round one, so those are his ammo, which may be able to be activated my hand like a normal grenade. Human grenades can blow up mid-air if you throw them too far now in Halo 2, so maybe these grenades are the other end of the spectrum, able to be thrown great distances, and skid against the ground well and bounce well, good for random launchings into battle,

The blue things on him are simply decoration as are the orange spots or such on the underside of an elite's arm, simply added to "spice up the character." The frag grenades in Halo 2 explode after impact, instead of settling. This means that they don't just "blow up in mid-air if you throw them too far," but rather explode in mid-air if you bounce them right.

Oh, my bad. Wow, that sucks, exploding on impact... I always bounced them around corners, the grenade is gonna be like a rocket launcher (With a very weak rocket thrust of course lol) with that then, that sucks pretty badly.

Actually I think the grenades don't blow up on impact but their detonation timer starts on impact. So instead of starting its timer when it settles like in Halo1, the timer will start if you bounce it off a wall.

That's what I was trying to say. If you read the Halo 2/MT Dew guys' write-ups they state that if you time it right, you can make them explode in mid-air.

OK, Bungie is contradicting itself... unless the Brutes have two weapons, that thing is either a slugthrower (similar to a human gun) or a grenade launcher.

I saw that it shoots blue plasma spikes, and they look like Fuel Rod blasts, except blue.
I saw this on the 2003 trailer, so who knows what happened.
