well, maybe not a problem.. but I want to disable it... see, I run the game on a laptop, wich are not too good for pc games, but it runs halo so I couldnt complain, but then there's a friend's laptop wich is a bit old, and in his laptop, the sky wont show up, and as a result, his halo runs with no frameskip (no need to render more i think), and in mine the sky shows up, but slows down... It has happened with battlefront (quite slow too), and san andreas (not that slow but slows sometimes), please help, any idea if I can "erase" the map rendering to imporve fps? maybe in dev mode? please.... You can turn down the frame rate in your setings as well as lowering its performance settings to meduim or even low.

The sky isn't taxing on your system - it's a simple bitmap. What is taxing is lighting, chadows, decals, specular, and particles/texture quality. Turn particles to low and textures to low, start at the lowest resolution, and slowly crank it up until you reach a good spot.

Your laptops aren't the same, his is so old his integreated graphics cannot even render the sky. you can't shut something like that off - it just happens if your system is really really slow. Also, you can't stop a map from rendering. That would mean that you couldn't see anything, because every game in existence renders the environment around you into the picture you see onscreen.

He's concerned with a low fps [I think], not a high one, so he wouldn't want to turn it down.

Add -useff to the end of your target line and you will see an increase in performance, at at HUGE hit to your graphics (unless you have integrated)
