Hey Mods and Admins and such,

This is starting to be realy annoying..yeah sure some threads are off topic, BUT they are PC related stuff and since most of the people here are PC players and want little or nothing to do with the rest of the forums subforums like the flood and all the other places in wich we don`t know the members. The point is that we PC players like posting here and talking or discussing stuff with eachother...now partialy i understand that my "Help me fight the boredom" topic was away from Halo PC and was starting to rag on Bungie but still...we need a place to discuss this...so to cut this short i suggest a 2nd section in the Halo PC part of the forum...section 1 should remain this one and the other one should be about general discution about PC games PC`s graphics cards and the fact that we have been dealt a "No Halo 2 for you guys niea niea!" card.

Cause you know as well as i do that when a guy askes what graphics card he should buy it has nothing to do with Halo PC...just with PC`s and he ain`t gona go ask in the flood or somfin.

I guess man but hey...i`m one of those pinhead that don`t get it and would like to better the place...at least for PC players since we iz the overlooked and forgoten though we are here and have been fans for quite some time...but heck i guess we are overlooked cause we are either too cheap to pay xbox live and line their pockets even more eh? or maybe cause some of us have liked the idea of Halo even since the demonstration prior to the xbox launch and have been made to wait like dogs for years till somfin came our way.

  • 09.09.2005 9:20 AM PDT

We already allow a lot of general PC discussion here, such as the many technical threads that appear. We also haven't locked threads that are about such things as graphics and sound cards. This is because we feel that it's easier and better for you guys to get technical information from fellow PC gamers.

When you're talking about other stuff, however, The Underground (Bungie things) or The Flood (other things) are more than appropriate - why would it be more advantageous to talk to only PC gamers about these?

Sorry guys, I do have to say this… there might be a day when you have to come OUTSIDE of the Maw. You guys always claimed that you are over run with spam and jerks, but you know what… I never get a message about this sort of stuff. The Maw is a relatively peaceful forum, thus we don’t have to check it every five minutes, because the majority, if not all topics are being discussed properly and people are helping people. If you guys are having problems here and the Moderator you are messaging isn’t doing anything, come to me and I will take care of the problem.

Mr B, maybe we can try being a little less cynical and possible help the Maw by going to the Septagon and posting some ideas that you have to improve Bungie.net overall? I know Achronos is getting much more active there and is even hinting on some ideas upcoming for Bungie.net, wouldn’t hurt to check it out sometime, not mention leave constructive criticism there for the benefit of Bungie.net but the Maw as well.

Well this is surprize...the thread ain`t locked...yet...see the thing is that as soon as somfin remotely familiar to criticism adressed to bungie or its ever-developing forums stuff gets locked or tossed into the flood where it`s either crowded by rejects talkin about how hot Cortana is or somthing equaly intresting...i mean who would bother trying to discern what garble is within the flood?

The Maw is just for Halo PC talk, okay? There's different forums for different topics. Graphic cards and computer problems do fit into this forum the most, but I think it woul be nice if Bungie created a forum for any computer problem, as anyone and everyone who talks on this site has to be on a computer. And I'm sure 90% of these people have, or will have, some type of computer problem. If the topic has absolutely nothing to do with PC, than post it somewhere else. And if you don't like that somewhere else because it's in the Xbox forum which is basically a million ten-year olds who like to swear a lot, than don't post at all.

Look, I don't see what the big problem is. I mean, this is a forum meant to discuss Halo PC - it's pretty generous that they allow hardware-related talk. The other forums are very specific and oriented towards one topic - the actual game that they're labeled for, and nothing else, really. That being said, you can see that they give us a pretty nice forum that's fairly open-ended as far as PC gaming goes. I think it does get off-topic if you start talking about other games in a Halo PC forum.

If you want a place to converse about anything related to pc's and pc gaming, set up a phpBB forum like muff did or create a public group right here at Bungie. The latter is actually a great way to setup a PC forum.

You've got the tools...

use your favorites in i.e. for keeping track of threads' people are told. LMFAO! Genius!
Hey! I do that! whachu sayin!!!???

JK Back on track; i dunno how useful a subforum would be. I'd rather see a keyword search toolbar so we can find what we're looking for without scrolling through sixteen pages of...well...spam to find an old thread.

thread subscription: never heard of it; don't know how it works.

...I went outside the Maw once. I still have nightmares...

I thought that was what this IS. at least, that's an aspect of what it's become. graphics cards, build your own PC, udpating drivers, why spyware makes RAM intensive games crash. i've seen all this discussed in the Maw. And I like the trend. it keeps the Maw active and useful. I'd not mind if these people stuck around after they drop those "HELP" monkey questions, but such is life.
But...we sort of DO have subforums for PC and Halo PC discussion. the stickies give us a little mobility when it comes to certain aspects of PC game play and PC upgrading. if you've got an idea for a PC topic, just post it. if it's good, and people are responding to it, contact a mod and try to make it a sticky.

He's entirely right. In a nutshell, it might be a bit inconvenient, but really, its not something to break an argument over.

Besides, this thread in itself is becoming spam...

Well dude,it was just an idea. Personaly i don`t like talkin to people over in the flood or whatnot and i like talkin to people from this particular forum...to the regulars at least. I like talking to people who play PC games and who know crud about PC`s. I understand that forum is totaly Halo related but in this particular section of it it`s PC and no other forums that i know have these regulars as members but Halo PC and graphics porblems and complaint threads that get locked isn`t the only thing i`d like to talk to them about.
The Maw is a comunity itself and i was purely making a suggestion to better this comunity to make it less restrictive and yet still decent and peacefull.

I just took the example the Admin of the www.Bulletformyvalentine1.com forum did and opend up a topic just about suggestions to improve the place(btw Bullet For My Valentine is a band and a damn good one at that :) ).

Now if u think of this as spam then u should get the horse blinds off.

Sexy legs davis, is the voice of reason! Gotta admit, we are very lax around the forums, we do allow other PC related issues to be discussed on this forum. We don’t have to allow this, this is not a technical support forum for either PC or Halo Pc, but that’s the discussion and we let it go.

Here’s a great idea, even though some of you dislike Bungie.net there is a FREE TOOL you CAN use to your advantage… make a group in the 7th Column! You get private news, databases and even a forum, plus you can run it however you like! It can be The Maw’s little retreat for whatever they want to talk about…

As for the Flood, they are good people, we can’t force you to talk to them or vice-versa, but I’m sure you’d get some input form them and so garbage. You’d just have to deal with it and solider on.

Well whatever...sounds like a decent enough idea to me...if anybody wants to do it tell me i`ll pitch in...if not then again...whatever...i spouse i took this forum thing way to seriously, probably cause of the lack of a PC version of Halo 2.

We never lock on-topic criticism. And this hasn't been moved, even though it would be ideal for The Septagon.

Im cynical because I have hardly ever seen any quality help from the admins. They just seem to -blam!- on us and give excuses.

What sort of "quality help" are you after? This isn't an official place for support.

Actually, i think that IS his complaint goweb. there are no reliable official places for support. what avenues are open to us seem, at present, to be nothing more dead end or one way roads.

Point of fact, The Maw seems to be the only place where PC and (more important to this topic) HALO PC related problems are in any way addressed by the tree headed god/monster that is Gearbox/Bungie/Microsoft. Since those that monitor the Maw have no power to rectify the unfortunate events taking place in game at present (and those who do have such authority remain locked in their Ivory xbox tower, it seems) even venting your frustrations here becomes little much like screaming in a canyon: you hear plenty of replies to your plight, but they are echoes in empty wind.

That said, yes, the admins in the Maw show a softer touch than other forums. Case in point; you chose to comment on this thread rather than locking it, as is your option and power.

Poetic...but sadly so.

None of our talks of wisdom reach the ears of people with power over this game or any Halo related projects and stuff. Just look at the upcoming Halo movie, the talks about how Bruce Willis or someone else will be playing as the MC...now since never within the games has his face been shown how dumb will it be and how predictable will it be when the people see Bruce Willis`s head on top of the spartan armor encased body...and if not this(though i`m sure such a thing WILL happen) someone else`s voice will be the thing we will hear...it won`t be the voice of Steve Downes who was the original voice of the MC...it`l be some cheese-ball hack of an actor(and yes by that i was refferin to Willis or The Rock or others like them).

None of us who make sense get our voices heared and the result is obvious...TKers running free, updates containing nothing close to the fixes we ask for and that are posible to acomplish,no PC version of Halo 2 on a DVD for less piracy and belive you me there would be sales...and not just in Halo...just look at the still in production Doom movie...this piece of holywoodian dung for wich i`ve seen the trailer of will hit the screens reflecting nothing from the Doom games. Now personaly i`m not a huge fan of Doom and Doom 3 got boring to me affter 1 hour of play...but the first hour was absolutly brilliant...none of the gloom and darkness will be on the silver screen...i swear the graphics of the game make the game monsters look better then the cheap rubber suit wearing tall retards as shown in the trailer...no refrences to satan or related...it looks like a cheaper and more pathetic version of the Rezident Evil movie...same shiny brushed aluminium coridors and glass, same cheap monsters and heck even the plot seems to be similar "the last piece of the human genome was discoverd" just uuzing with cheese.

Mr B, I do hope you realize that Bungie.net Moderators are not official Bungie employees; we are given very few resources to handle problems. Such as you have discovered, we’d love to be able to call up Gearbox and tear them a new one, but all we’ve been told is that they are the place for Halo PC support. It seems like we’re giving you a run around, but we’re not trying too. This is what we know, I wish I could get some more solid answers from Bungie, but it is the weekend and I have made a post at our group that will hopefully receive some attention from Bungie and possibly lead to some answers/solutions.

Its seems not for most of the mods on this forum. The annoying thing is, you dont even get a 'sorry, we cant do that'. Its just ignorance or lies. I not so stupid as to beleive your all horrible people, its my opinion these forums need a revision and more staff.

Bungie.net is still in it’s infancy, Achronos has said he’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeve along with SketchFactor has hinted at some new content coming out for the forums in the future. As I said above, the Moderators have very limited resources to work with and we’re not or trying to lie to you. We are using the information that we know and are given, that’s the best we can do.

So then goweb, if not the maw for support for halo pc, where else do we go to then? Bungie? Microsoft? Gearbox? Please give me an address or forum that I havent tried.

Please note that the Maw is not listed on Bungie.net as a Halo PC support website, just a general discussion. Bungie doesn’t offer the support and as far as I know, they know very little about how to fix any of the problems that would stem from Halo PC. At best you could get grass roots support if anything at all. Read carefully. As for other websites, Gearbox is obviously neglecting if they have a forum set up for discussion of technical aspects of Halo PC. Since the official support (Gearbox) isn’t going to help and Bungie isn’t an actual support website/forum, then it really falls upon you to stop waving the flags of revolution and do something about it. You’ve got tools on Bungie.net that you can use and you could even take it upon yourself to start a website with the best and most accurate information you have and try to get it officially recognized by Gearbox.

Excuse me but since Bungie made many PC games in the past and the original Halo was to be a Mac and PC game don`t tell me they can`t do it and can`t make the updates...They have the game, the resources and time to make an update with an AFK kick, better TK rules, better cheat and scum managment but they don`t care about it since doing so won`t add to their profits and workin on Halo 2 map packs that they actualy SELL instead of being free downloads dose. Bungie has gone total sell-out and they prove it time and again.

...real pretty don`t ya think?

Sell out? Naw. Bought out by a company known for releasing products before the bugs have been even vaguely addressed? ...yeah. But, and partly my fault here, we've gotten a little off track.

If you want Bungie.net PC subforums, I suggest you create one (that is, a subforum using one of the above listed methods given by the mods) that's as open ended as you can make it. Stick the page into your sig and it's there for as long as you want. Better still, create a thread list of all PC subforums starting with your own and ask a mod to sticky it like the PC clan directory. And let those folks who decide to list their subforum on the post give a description of the topics generally discussed within.

This is actually the first Maw started thread i've seen that has elicted a response from not one, but two moderators. You must be on to something MST3000. Keep at it.
