I've listened to rap. I like the way some of it sounds, such as Outkast's Speakerboxxx. On the whole, though, I dislike it.
And yes, I listen to the lyrics - and I hate them. The lyrics talk about depressing social situation's. The depressing part doesn't even seem realized by the rapper. Sometimes it's even supported, such as pimping women and gang warfare. I cannot consciously ever like something that could shed those things in a positive light. It's immature and idiotic - especially since kids listen to it, and it makes an impression on them.
Then other times, when the music tries to be philisophical, I see it fail horribly by presenting childish, and often incoherent philosophies. Other times it's religious, which I simply can't get into because I hate almost all metaphysical beliefs.
In short, I don't like rap. Not because of the way it sounds - but because lyrically, though it may rhyme, it doesn't appeal to me theme-wise. It's more sport than music.
