Now, I used to play Firefight with a friend of mine a bit back and neither of us lagged at all. It was perfect. I was in upstate New York and he was in Chicago. He has Comcast and I had Time Warner. My old connection, the one that ran fine, was about 6Mps download and less than 1Mps upload. Not the best connection I know, but it worked fine.
Now, I have recently upgraded to Verizon Fios. I'm getting 15Mps download and 6Mps upload. Well over double the speed of my old connection. Now, all of a sudden, I always lag in Firefight. Before you ask, yes, with both connections I had an open NAT and all the ports opened. That's why I can't seem to figure it out. I upgrade to a better internet and then I start lagging? Makes no sense.
So what I'm wondering is what factors are included for Firefight's networking system? I mean, sure distance is involved, but that wasn't a problem before. We both have the game installed to our HDDs. And the funny thing is, my friend has never lagged. His connection has always made him play like it was Halo 3's MP. No problems. I now have a better internet than him, so that's why I find this whole thing bothersome. Anyone have any theories?
