Subject: Question about Firefight's lag

Now, I used to play Firefight with a friend of mine a bit back and neither of us lagged at all. It was perfect. I was in upstate New York and he was in Chicago. He has Comcast and I had Time Warner. My old connection, the one that ran fine, was about 6Mps download and less than 1Mps upload. Not the best connection I know, but it worked fine.

Now, I have recently upgraded to Verizon Fios. I'm getting 15Mps download and 6Mps upload. Well over double the speed of my old connection. Now, all of a sudden, I always lag in Firefight. Before you ask, yes, with both connections I had an open NAT and all the ports opened. That's why I can't seem to figure it out. I upgrade to a better internet and then I start lagging? Makes no sense.

So what I'm wondering is what factors are included for Firefight's networking system? I mean, sure distance is involved, but that wasn't a problem before. We both have the game installed to our HDDs. And the funny thing is, my friend has never lagged. His connection has always made him play like it was Halo 3's MP. No problems. I now have a better internet than him, so that's why I find this whole thing bothersome. Anyone have any theories?

I doubt many who visit this forum have the technical expertise to give you a coherent answer. You might have more luck posting this on a networking forum or contacting your service provider.

Your fiber optics probably are either too lazy to work or don't like you o.O

But like the WarpFactor10 said, I would check with Verizon and see whats up. It could be because of location also.

You are using a wired connection right? Also if you play with laggie people you connection won't make any difference.
Distance hardly matters I play with people from england all the time with absolutely no lag.
