Yes, really

Modding isn't bungies domain. Let MS handle it.

Um what? I don't understand the question.

He got Host booted that's all. Nothing you can do sire, but buy a PS3. END TOPIC!

  • 08.09.2010 10:25 AM PDT

It was in LW and the guy that did it was a 50. He didn't want to lose his 50 so he started manipulating the connections. If u check his recent Matchmaking history he has a lot of unreliable games. Shouldn't that be enough for bungie to issue a ban?

Report to the FBI here

stop trolling... i'm being serious. If nothing is done to people that blatantly cheat, what's to stop them from doing it.

He's not trolling.

These attacks occur 'outside the confines' of the Matchmaking process. Someone is attacking your network.

Technically, its a violation of the law, though I can assure you if you ever tried to have them prosecuted, or even waste law enforcements time by telling them a story of how people hit you offline playing a video game, you would just be laughed at and dismissed as a waste of time and resources.

There is nothing you can do.

Nothing.

Unless if by chance, or sheer stupidity, the person who is hitting you offline meets enough requirements for the automated banhammer script, them maybe he'll get what amounts to a slap on the wrist, a 1 week ban. Instead of 'learning a lesson', he'll just update his technique, intersperse legit games, and continue cheating people with regularity, unchecked.

There are people who have been booting for 3 years in this game who have yet to be banned.

It sounds like that's coming from experience.

No, its not.

When I get held offline I deal exclusively with my ISP. Even in radical cases where I've been offline for upwards of 7 days it still doesn't warrant trying to involve the authorities, though it is technically a violation of the law.

Its just not persued unless someone is orchestrating DDOS attacks on a mass scale, or against a person/entity of note.

And if nothing is done about this in halo reach why would I ever consider buying it?

How about the $149? Or the $60 for halo 3 and the $60 for halo odst or the 49.99 for halo 2 and the 49.99 for halo CE. Or how about $200 for the original xbox? And all the years of XBL service..Oh and the $300 xbox 360?

Do you see where I am getting at?

Your point is taken, but my point is they should have some sort of system that is more effective than what they currently have especially if people are doing these things repeatedly and blatantly.

What you don't realize is that they can't do anything about it. They can't just magically make people stop D(D)oS'ing people on XBL. The only way to stop the individual targeting of players would be to use dedicated servers, which is never going to happen.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Dedicated servers are what's needed here. Putting players at risk by forcing peer-hosted games is just wrong.

  • 08.09.2010 5:23 PM PDT

For the campaign. You forget that plenty of people play video games without internet connection...

  • 08.09.2010 5:27 PM PDT

If you got hit offline, how did you post this?

  • 08.09.2010 5:29 PM PDT

why won't microsoft put up for dedicated servers? it would do wonders for online gameplay and god knows they make enough money to do so without any real hit to their bottom line. Bill Gates makes billions a year he could easily put up 500 million for dedicated servers, and that much would probably be ridiculously overkill

Junior Dos Santos, know the name, he's the future.

BLACK POWER!

if he was boosting grifball with 4 guest accounts he'd be instantly banned. If he was getting achievements in a full party he'd also be banned.

If theyre actually cheating, nothing will be done.
