Look at the Halo 2 ATV render in the Halo 2 section of this site.

It looks like it has a second seat (complete with handholds) at its back end, where a person can sit and fire a handheld weapon backwards.

It still looks like a back seat to me. It's metallic though, must be uncomfortable. It's like the seats on the scorpion...

Maybe they could use a second seat and send a message to the kiddies by using seatbelts.

:D

good guess there Tr00per143, that'd be pretty awesome... picking your fellow flag carrier up from the back of an ATV and jetting it back home...

My honest guess is that its for the marines' luggage so they can strap it on and go long distances. Oh well we'll have to wait and see on nov. 9th.

I actually think this is mentioned as kind of a 50% official note somewhere... Might be Frankie, if it isn't it's somewhere on HBO. I'm sure it's somewhere though.

I'm pretty sure the handles are there to secure weapons and supplies to the back, that doesnt look like much of any kind of a seat

That looks like more for strapping something down; most likely just decoration.

I read, a long time ago, in a magazine that the back seat of the ATV is used to transport snipers to good positions on the battle field. This could mean its used by the snipers, or that normal marines drop them off then head somewhere else. I would assume a gunner could fire while being transported.

But thats just what I have heard, and it could have changed. I hope if it's one-rider onle then you can fire one handed weapons from it, or that Bungie will stick a machine gun or two on the front, like with the ghost.

On the plus side, with November not far away now, we won't have long to wait to find out...

Maybe is to put weapons but it could also work to put the flag in it.

That looks like a storage thingy to me, but if you wanted to ride on the back... Duct tape.
