"Thought I'd shoot my way out," -Master Chief-

alright so this is really old stuff but i just thought about it isn't firing a halo ring supposed to destroy all sentient life? so why is it just fine to fire one in the end of halo 3? like they don't even seem to notice that firing a halo ring was so bad in the first 2 games but now it's okay? if anyone knows why please explain below

Because Installation 04B isn't inside the Milky Way...

Try watching the cut scenes instead of skipping them...

i just replayed the entire campaign and watched all the cut scenes and didn't figure that out, what mission do they say that? btw thanks though if that's true then you have helped me greatly

Didn't they think it was bad in the first two halo since they thought it would destroy the whole univers, but in the 3rd halo they eventually found out it would just destroy the flood or something like that.

Please Note that I haven't played the Campaign for a LONG while now and that my Halo knowledge isn't as good as it use to be.

The other 7 installations are inside the Milky Way and will destroy all Sentient life inside their range. However, the Ark and the Instillation it is construction (4B) are far outside of the Milky Way. This is where the Forerunners took shelter when they fired the rings the first time. The Gravemind lands on the Ark, so destroying all sentient life on and around the Ark will destroy the Flood. But because Earth and all of the Covenant planets are out of range of Instillation 4B, they will not be affected by the firing of this ring.

You can see that the Ark is outside of the Milky Way at the very beginning of the level 'The Ark' one of the Marines points it out, and if you look up into the sky you will see the Milky Way.

Play the game like it is real; use cover, use teamwork and you will survive.

True answer, because activating a Halo ring before it is finish destroy it. (dunno why and I think that's pretty stupid

The Halo rings can only do damage on a galactic scale. The Halo that Master Chief activated was outside of the Milky Way, so it did no harm to anything else except for what was on The Ark.

Well the same would probably happen if you fired a nuke from a launch facility that hadn't been completely finished.

It wasn't finished yet, so it would have destroyed itself when fired, and wouldn't have worked all the way. Basically it would freak out and blow up and the effectiveness of the weapon wouldn't work.

You people do know the Master Chief was within range of the blast of the ring...

In the cutscene at the end of the covenant level, the moniter says a "tactical pulse" will detroy the flood on the ark.

There is also a part where cortana mentions that the ark is outside the galaxy so when truth fires the rings, the ark won't be affected.
