Teamwork means staying out of my way.

Does anybody know if playing in social playlists still uses your TruSkill rating? I thought there was some stuff on the site about TruSkill but I can't find it. For some reason the search bungie.net function only searches for PLAYERS not actual site content so could someone help if they know? Thanks!

Yes it does. You have an invisible ranking in Social.

I AM DONE linking my gamertag. I'm sick of people constantly following me and giving me their goddamn opinion about every game I play.

Get a life and stop following me.

I've heard that there's a hidden true skill rank in social.

it would sort of make sense, because I never play outright noobs like my brother does in matchmaking.

But can't you only gain TruSkill rating through playing Ranked matches?

Also I could have SWORN Bungie said there was no TruSkill factored into Social somewhere on the site...

yes, but there is another system for social. it works the same, or at least, I think it does
it makes it so that you plat people of the same level.

No true skill in social.
That's why sometimes you'll be matched up with 10's..etc and other times you'll be up against 50's.
Hell, it even says on the playlist "Skill is not tracked."

Social has loose matchmaking restrictions, and allegedly operates of an invisible trueskill value.

So, by playing a social playlist frequently, you are supposed to see an increased frequency of players who also play that playlist frequency.

As far as a higher frequency of matches against players of similar global Trueskill values, I think thats a complete fallacy.

It does have the same TruSkill system as Ranked, but it constantly expands the gap until you find a match.

In ranked, if you were a 50, it would only search for players that are ranked 40 or above.

In social, if you were a really high rank, there's really no restriction to who you can match up with.

In other words, if it takes really long to find a match, you're most likely going to be paired up with people outside of your skill level, be it above or below.

Searching social skirm with people who have 4000 exp a piece in it and matching people with 3 exp in skirm is always fun.

If you play enough, you will end up playing mostly people around your level. Go through my game history once. In social slayer, I usually get matched with people 45 and up. When I started playing social slayer on my other account, I got nothing but low ranks and guests. Dig through a handful of games from either link, and you should see a pretty clear pattern of the hidden truskill at work in social lists. You are correct, the search isn't very strict, and you can sometimes get total mismatches (worst in BTB), but I have found that on average, it does come up with people in your true rank range more often than not, at least in social slayer.

There definitely is. There's no way 90 percent of people who play multi-team are generals, but every single player my brother and I get matched up against are. It used to be nothing but 10-20, so something must have changed. Also, I'm pretty sure it helps to go in with a guest.

Here's some proof. My brother has played a ton of multi-team games, and I've only played a couple. This first game is me and my bro playing with generals, brigadiers, and colonels while we're on two separate gamertags:

And here's the very next game with just my account and my brother signed in as a guest. Nothing but 35 and under.

I work for the Department of Defense.

The system is just broken.

Any time I even go into any playlist alone, at least 95% of the time I get matched with 40's and under, sometimes as low as 5's, and I play nothing but 45+'s and generals on the other team.

I've never understood why the game expects me to carry my team, every single game.

Well I ask because I have one account where I quickly rose to a level 40 on ranked and accumulated a pretty good TruSkill from constantly owning people. After that, I started only playing social and I would get nothing but 45's and 50's.

On a second account I made, I played 0 ranked games and only social and I get nothing but people level 1-30, all scrubs. Sometimes we get the occasional 50 but they must have been an ebay account or something cuz they aren't that good.

It makes me wonder about TruSkill in social that's all. I've played a good 100-150 games and it hasn't "raised" or anything.

Yes. Trueskill is just invisible.

But the gap when finding skill ranges is larger.

I have noticed the trueskill when I play social slayer by myself and with friends, we only get matched 40+ ranks because they are around the same level we are in the playlist.

In this thread, Shishka clearly states that TrueSkill is part of social. Since rank is measured independently in each playlist, there's no way to tell how close someone is to your rank in a particular social playlist.

Thats probably true.

Social Slayer probably operates on strict restrctions because it has a much larger population from which to match players.

That same dynamic is not present in other social playlists. Speaking purely anecdotally. I virtually never match players around my skill level in any social playlist, even ones where I have a fair amount of XP.

I've noticed the same, however, I've also noticed the populations of those lists are terribly low. Skirmish, BTB, and Mythic have all been struggling to have 2000 people. I'd guess it's not as picky when their isn't many matches to choose from.

social has invisible trueskill but the game will skip over restrictions in an effort to speed up MM though. In ranked it will never skip over the level restrictions. That's the main difference between ranked and social.
