Why did Bungie had to make Halo : Combat Evolved for the PC a game that need 32 Mb video? Why they didn't just made it so every video card could play it? Its just a pain in the arse, instead of getting a router and XBC?

Ok, first of all, Bungie did not make Halo PC, Gearbox Software did.

Second of all, every video card CAN play the game, just not very well.

And third, if you have Halo 1 for Xbox, why do you need Halo PC?

It's not that simple. To run a game of Halo's visual quality, there are hardware requirements, not because "the programmers make it that way," but because such quality demands memory requirements, as well as processing requirements. You can't simply make any game run on any card at the same visual quality.

the moderator's got a point.
(don't mean to be mean) when you know what programmers and devlopers have to go through to make a new game you'll see how hard it is (programming flaws, deadlines to keep; it's a world of hardship).

Because the video card wouldn't be powerful enough. It would fail. Additionally, if you don't have anything matching or exceedin 32 mb as a video card, that's pretty sad. Upgrade.

Yeah, um, games will not be made to run on current hardware forever. There's a reason that consoles have gotten better hardware since Atari - graphical and game improvements.

If you have a 32MB card you really do need to get a new one - maybe even a new pc?

256 MB cards are gonna be the standard for games in the very-near future. Hell, 512 MB will give you a good head start upgrade wise. Get a new card that has 256 MB or 512 MB.

The Radeon X800 XL comes in both flavors, and is pretty cheap for the power it has. You can get the 256 MB version for $270 or lower if you look good enough. The 512 MB version...i don't know, maybe $350?

Anyways, upgrade

Run it in a lower setting by adding -useff to the end of the command line.

Well bud,no,you don`t,and not everyone has a great graphics card but you could chose to not -blam!- about it and understand that every game has it`s demands and if your PC can not manage them to bad...if u want to play Duke nukem 3D then your PC is great...if u want to run Halo PC get a better PC End of story.

I dunno. you eating quarters?

JK. Sorry amn, but that's the cost to play. If you want to play a game as equipment intenstive as Halo, you have to have equipment capable of running it. Just like you can't play halo for Xbox on your Discman; there are requirements for any game, and halo needs those resources to run.

What videocard do you have? If you just can't break the piggy bank and you're right on the edge of playability, you might be able to use things like -useff or overclocking to stretch your equipment past the hurdle and get it to run.

But I recommend upgrading. And if you don't even have a 34MB videocard, I'd probably recommend replacment. Computer technology advances exponentially on an almost yearly basis. 3GHz HT processors that are all the rage this year will be obsolite when 64 bits are up, reliable and cheap, next year. Likewaise, a videocard that can't play Halo PC today, may not be able to open your web browser tomorrow.
