Well, this is nothing new but you really did a good job of explaining the procedures. Based on that I think this should be a sticky so everyone will know what to do. Nice post.

Wow thanks from posting this! I have wanted to know this for so long! But can you play on the 360 with the xbox controllers?

You can play on the 360 using 360 controllers. If that is what you were asking?

The program is just so people can find your systemlink game when your hosting via XBC.

Xlink Kai is better.

I have seen nothing that makes Xlink stand out from XBC. Other then the fact that XBC has a nice stand alone UI, while Xlink is now browser based and messy.

  • 08.15.2010 8:49 PM PDT

Why not put the how to's for Xlink Kai in your topic and let people choose? The instructions would be nice.

Lol, do not worry. I think Moifugley is just crazy. I have been reading his posts a lot over the last couple of years, and I think he may just be crazy.

=) @ Moifugley

Man I tried to set this up, but I never got it going. I just miss the Matchmaking experience so much, I don't even think this will cut it. I am SLOWLY letting Halo 2 go. A LOT of people will disagree, but I find my outlet through Halo 2 Vista.

I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

This could be helpful for a lot of people. This is a very good thread.

Word to the wise, Halo 2 Vista works SOMETIMES with Windows 7. Mine worked right away, and it seems to like Windows 7 Professional 64-bit the most from what people have stated (I have that). If you have a .edu email account the Microsoft Ultimate steal might still be going on, got Windows 7 Professional 64-bit for $30. That's dirt cheap for it btw lol.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.
Xfire: JacobGRocks.
50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

If you are having issues with XBC, try using 32 bit windows. It has weird driver issues with x64.

The ultimate steal is no longer going on, but you can use DreamSpark or MSDNAA to get it legally free from MS.

Here is also a tip, if you get h2v, and you have troubles, try this:

* 1) Do these steps first.
o Download the latest H2V update
o Download the latest GFWL update
o Install them both

2) Navigate to root folder you installed Halo 2 on.
o Default 32bit OS: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2
o Default 64bit OS: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Halo 2

3) move "activate.exe" to another location. (it can be anywhere, preferably the desktop)
4) Start up halo2.exe (which is in the Halo 2 folder)
5) Sign onto GFWL
o when prompted for a product key from GFWL, enter it as such.
o After entering the Product key, you will see Live and Network still grayed out.
o Close H2V.

6) Bring "activate.exe" back into the Halo 2 folder.

7) Initiate Startup.exe
o you will be prompted for a key, enter it, then enjoy H2V!

This fixed my problem, I was comparing what file from 1.0 and 1.4 of H2V is messed up.
THIS SOLVED MY UNSOLVABLE CRYPTOGRAPHIC CRAP, that GFWL couldn't solve.

Aperture Science. We do what we must, because, we can. For the good of all of us, except the ones who are dead. But there's no sense crying over every mistake, you just keep on trying, 'till you run out of cake, and the science gets done, and you make a neat gun, for the people who are Still Alive!

Still Alive...

Question: How would I set this up if my computer is on a Wireless Network, but my 360 is on a Wired Network?

Thanks. :]

I have have an all wired setup for my online gaming. So I'm unsure about wireless. Just give it a shot and see how it goes. I would be glad to hear if you got it working or not.

Sorry to bump but I noticed 3 posts about how Live was down and I thought this informative thread should be brought back up. Apparently fewer people know about this than I realized and even less know how it's done.

Play Halo 2 on Xbox 360?: Yes
Is it free/legal?: Yes

It is used to trick your xbox into thinking it's linked into a LAN. So no you will not be banned from XBL because you won't be playing via any connection to XBL.

XBC is 100% custom games, there is no matchmaking system.

Halo 2 for Life!

I like how you presented how to do it, but it's still to hard to do I think, I have a bad router I need a new one just to make ports and such to get this I think, and I'm not doing that for a while so this post, even though makes it simple is still to complicated (unless you got a good router and it's easy to set up ports I think).

  • 09.12.2010 8:03 PM PDT

Bump, I just posted about halo 2 revival and found this. So I feel pretty newbish. Very glad I found it though
