THE BRIDGE HAS TWO LAYERS!!! apparently this was not clear in the video

This map is a remake of the end of Halo 3 campaign level: Sierra 117. The part where you need to save Johnson at the dam (part Quid pro Quo).
I always found it attractive for a multiplayer map, but was impossible for me to make in Halo 3's forge. In Halo Reach however this will be possible.

I made this video because if I would make it when Halo Reach comes out, my idea would be lost in a sea of forged maps, this way I can attract some attention.

Weapon and armour abilities will be placed after a number of gameplay tests. There would be no Jet pack ability as starters, because else you would be able to directly attack the opponent on the other side. I would place the Jet Pack on the bridge with 45 second respawn.

Please tell your friends if you liked it and if you want I will write your xboxGT down and when I finish forging it we can have a fun time testing it!

I think you might need someway to cross the lake from the other side of the map though, otherwise players will be funneled onto the bridge (maybe a man-cannon or a teleporter)

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THIS:
a sidewalk to offer a sideroute, causing the enemy team to lose focus. <-- thanks to Mango Fet
OR
one-way teleporters on the cranes leading to the end of the bridge's other side. Asymmetrical games only.

1) It seems like blue base has more shallow cover that would allow them to get out to the bridge easier. Probably more based on camera angles though
2) The high ledges on the blue base look pretty deadly.Or you could add lots of small cover, like crates and stuff in the open areas.
3) Are there going to be any kill volumes? If someone were to get up on top of the blue tower using jet pack or some crazy fusion coil jump they would be like impossible to kill.


1) You have a point, but red side will have more crates to hide from, so that would balance it
2)I am planning to place a few fusion coils on the ledge and also putting many crates at red spawn (it also is like that in campaign apart from the fusion coils) Walking on that ledge wont give you any cover at all and if you won't watch out you will fall from the ledge (its open to two sides and that won't be very prosperous for your health when falling down.
3)yes there will be, also to prevent people to get on top of other buildings, below the water will be instant kill, buildings will be 10 second timer to return (hopefully you can edit time limits so I could adjust the timer to 3 or 5 seconds)

You should put another bridge-platform on the other two platforms with the bases.

I think you might need someway to cross the lake from the other side of the map though, otherwise players will be funneled onto the bridge (maybe a man-cannon or a teleporter).

The bridge has two walkways one upper and one tunnel, but if this results in camping or entrapment, I will place a mancannon somewhere, thanks :)

Maybe you could sort of extend that broken bridge in the middle, so that the gap is small enough to jetpack across.

I was playing this level with my girlfriend earlier today.
I immensely enjoy this part of halo 3, every single time. Just like you, ive always thought it would be a great map for multiplayer.
WIth the new game, Spartans vs Elites, or Generator defense would be hardcore. too bad you cant fore firefight though. =[

You'll have to find the right time though, because i have already designed 20+ forge maps im making once Reach comes out so i will be pretty busy,

unfortunately i am usless at Google Sketchup, so ive done mine on paper lol.

EDIT - A minor suggestion i would put forward would be that there needs to be a second way to get to the other side apart from that one main bridge. You need to spread out the gameplay so everyone wont be fighting constantly to get over the one bridge

Your map looks awesome, you've put a lot of planning into it but here are a few things I noticed.

1) It seems like blue base has more shallow cover that would allow them to get out to the bridge easier. Probably more based on camera angles though

2) The high ledges on the blue base look pretty deadly. From what I can tell someone about half way in between blue hut and blue tower can see every red respawn outside the cliffs except the two in the bridge area. If blue gets up there with a sniper rifle they could lock down most of the red side. I don't know what weapons you plan on using but I think a focus rifle would be a good long range power weapon for this map. Or you could add lots of small cover, like crates and stuff in the open areas.

I find it quite easy, when I downloaded it I instantly started making it :p

Tip: start by making everything 2D first, then you can make it 3d layer by layer :)

sounds way too complicated for me. I like doing it on paper. i just sketch out in 2D each level of the map, and this helps me when i come to forge it because all i have to do is just build each level as it is drawn. I expect to have 30 maps by the time it comes out,
