If you don't know this already, creative labs have released their new line of sound-blaster cards: X-fi. For gamers, the reason you should care is the big increase in performance.

They even have their gamer-specific X-fi card named after Jonathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel (just a random thing). It comes with 64 MB of "X-RAM" directly on the sound card, so cranking up the quality doesn't hog up your system RAM. If you still have onboard sound (i'm guilty of this), you can get a reported 15% increase in system performance over motherboard audio, even with everything on high quality.

Don't get your hopes up, because X-fi does not come cheap. For the gamer-oriented "Fatal1ty" card, prepare to shell out $280.

I know this is a stupid question right now, but has anyone tried or have any of the X-fi cards? Is the alleged performance worth the huge price-tag? And of course, does it work fine with Halo?

Go to www.soundblaster.com to find out more for yourself.
