It's been a little over a week since we officially started selling our charity "Fight the Flood" t-shirts and the response has been amazing! With your help, we've now raised an impressive $146,445 in funds to benefit the American Red Cross and victims of hurricane Katrina.

Sales have begun to slow down somewhat but we will keep spreading the word to raise more money. While 9,763 shirts is a lot, it's obviously only a small fraction of the larger Halo community. Help us out by telling everyone you know to buy a shirt, it's for a good cause. The situation in the gulf states may be slowly improving but there's a long road ahead and supplies and money will be needed quite possibly for years to come.

Remember, 100% of the profit from the Fight the Flood shirts will go directly to the American Red Cross.

Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to help others in this time of need.

Keep up the good work. Every little bit helps. If you can't buy a t-shirt, you can always donate elsewhere. :-)

I've found one of the best ways to spread the word is just to wear the t-shirt. People noticed it and asked about it and then it was really easy to explain how they could help too. I'll even be taking mine on my trip to Switzerland this week (though I hear the shipping costs to get one there are tremendous).

Through war we will teach your heresy.
Through battle we will teach your frailty.

THats great that some of the community cares... right now there are 88,814 players online..and over 330,000 unique plateyers...and only 9,500 shirts have been sold...theres no reason for us not to get in to 4 or 5 hundred dollars of support. I live in Louisiana and ive seen the refugees..and the damage we seriously need all the help we can get.

Asa proud Haloite, I would like to know if there is anyway that we can get the namer tags up for those who have done their part in helping those in this important time of need. This should be done to prove to other in our community that we are indeed doing our part as we were asked to do from all of those at Bungie Studios. Just a thought.

Yes, do everything you can to help these people. My school raised over $20000 in just 3 days and our goal was only $10000. We have 1240 students and coming up with that amount in 3 days is amazing. Also, I haven't been sent a email saying the shirt has been sent. I ordered it on the third and today is the 14th.

this topic might be locked because its in the wrong forum but this is something the community needs to be aware of before donating anymore money to the Katrina project. i live in austin texas and work as a front desk agent at a local hotel. since the katrina accident we have taken in 30 familys whose rooms are being paid for by red cross. i see these people everyday. i donated about $600 dollers to red cross putting myself and my family behind on bills for one month. money i work hard for but felt this was a situation were i needed to help my fellow americans. as part of my job i call around to other hotels in my area to check their rates and occupacy levels after talking to other hotels ive found that the same things are happening everywhere. these people have $2,000 debit cards given to them by red cross. you would think that they would spend this money to get an apartment or a down payment on a house but thats not the case. Every family ive checked in to my hotel has had over 15 bags of items puchased at name brand locations. are these items food or clothes no mostly not. what are they then?? lets see ive seen PSP's, cd players, t.v.'s, necklaces, air jordans, beer, and the clothes i have seen are top of the line name brand like hilfiger, polo, to name a few. we've also gone into several of these rooms for routine cleaning and found marijuana and CRACK pipes.

Now i dont know about you but i find this very disturbing. like i said these are not isolated incidents its happening everywhere. when we found out we would be taking in refugees i made calls to local apartment complexes to find resonable rates and vacancy for these refugees. how many have asked me where these places are? NONE nobody not even one. Instead the've been asking where the nearest mall is, or the nearest liquor store is, or the nearest strip joint is. My point to all of this is our money is not being spent wisely these people are looking no further down the road than the 14 day stay red cross is paying for.

I feel like i wasted my money and my time for these people. i do beleive that some people have actually used this money to actually get back on their feet i just have'nt seen any of them. another thing is vandalization, and burglaries that have happened at every hotel since the refugees have arrived in austin. its just disgusting for me to watch this continue.

if you still feel like donating go ahead but dont put yourself in jepardy for these people because most of them dont deserve it in my opinion. like i said in the beginning this is just some information i thought you should know before donating anymore money.

I fully support the shirts, as I bought one, and I know many people first hand who are affected, in fact I had an evacuee stay the night in my house last night, but that's beside the point. Bungie you need to lower the shipping fee, 8 bucks is pretty steep for a t-shirt especially since it was shipped via ground and in a plastic bag. It should really be no more than 5 bucks for an item that size.

we are a pretty small school, but we managed to rasie $1100 in just one day. I thought we did a good job, to bad we couldn't give away anymore money for a few more days.

I got my shirt the other day.

Also me and my mom got an idea to help.....

We got a magazine in the mail (at work) and I was looking through it and found these shoe keychains (my mom loooves shoes...and well...she owns a shoe store) and I showed them to her and she was like 'Oh those are kewl' and then she just kinda dismissed it....then a few days later...or it was a week...my mom and I started talking about the whole Hurricane Katrina thing...and we thought that maybe we could get those shoe keychains...and have costomers donate like a dollar or two...and have one of the keychains..and all the procceeds(sp?) of that would go to the Red Cross.

A fews days later...maybe another week...my mom (actually today) told me that since she talked to her accountant and made sure it was possible...told me to figure ouy...how much...we would need to equal around $500...So I did all the math....(which is surprising for me...cause math is not my best subject) Now all of these come in Dozens...cause they are things for like parties...or activity things...and well there was three types of the shoes...Flip flop ones, canvas, and these high heel ones with little fuzzies on it. So I did the math and came out that the Flip Flops we would need 15 dozen, the canvas, 10 dozen, and the High heel's, 17dozen, all that came out to $483.70...then adding shipping would be around $500...so then I showed my mom and we did some differences and figured people could donate at least $2 or if they want...maybe more...so yea..

Then my mom ordered them..and so they should be on the way....I know there will probably be a little bit more then the amounts we came up with....just cause its helping for a cause...and well...all the money from this is going to the Red Cross...I kinda like this little idea...and it makes me feel good that i am helping people in need ^_^

I got my flood shirt yesterday and wore it today. Alot of people were curious about it, so I told them. They liked the idea, so look forward to atleast 5 more orders within the next 48 hours...

This was an excellent idea, and I bet the upcoming auction is going to be a smash. Keep up the good work.
