Be completely honest with yourself.
Here's my definition of the 5 categories, but of course, skill is a subjective term, and I'd like to see what you define skill as.
Great- someone who truly excels at the game, think pros and well known MLG 50s.
Good- someone with multiple 50s that they play on and maintain easily, usually players who have been around for a while.
Average- 45-50 range, people who might not have been around for very long and are still learning how to play properly, but manage to be proficient with most weapons.
Bad- Majors to Colonels. They've gotten past the halfway mark in terms of numerical skill, but, imo, there really isnt' much of a skill gap between these players. Often new players, sometimes veterans who either never showed true talent or never cared enough to utilize what talent they may have.
Terrible- Captains and below, almost always new players who aren't very proficient with the weapons and know next to nothing about strategy.
With all that said, I'd consider myself to be average.
I hardly use rank or skill to determine how good a person is. 50s or 1s I don't care. I play with/against them and base my judgement off that. Of course I sometimes fly off the handle when I'm being too serious and unjustly insult and tell another person how terrible they are. I'm sure many of us have if not all of us. I'm still a colonel, because I hardly play matchmaking that much. I either play lone wolves, squad battle for ranked. But I usually play social bigteam, and the 2x XP weekends. But I almost always stick to custom games, if none of my friends are on or are in matchamaking I'll go to MW2. I still consider myself a good player, or at least pretty decent at the game though.
