So i ranked up to a 39 in lone wolves.

The first game after i quit out half way through the game
(no de-rank)

The second game i place 1st
(no rank)

The third game i finish 2nd

Questions:
Will the 2nd place finish count towards my skill or against it?
Do you have to finish first for it to count towards your skill (if so what place)
How many more wins will it most likely take to rank to a 40?

Thank you :)

I don't know much about LW, sorry.

All I know is that 3rd-1st place finishes count as wins.

so if you're 1-3rd will it count towards your rank up via skill?

It depends on the rank/records of your opponents, I think.

If I get 2nd place while playing a bunch of tards with bad records, it won't matter much. If I get 2nd against people with good records, it matters.

That's how it works in team games, I'm really not sure about LW.

No. The way FFA works is that your rank is positively affected by beating everyone below you and negatively affected by losing to everyone above you. The amount of positive or negative influence depends on how expected or unexpected the outcome was.

The cumulative effect of finishing in X place depends entirely on the ranks of everyone that placed above and below you. Generally speaking, you can expect to rank up by consistently finishing in the top half, but it is possible to rank down even for coming in 2nd. It's also possible to rank up for coming in 5th.

Also, Quitting counts as a full loss. (although the effects are not instantaneous)

Edit: At a quick glance, that game left you neutral, but slightly positive.
The way skill it tracked, I can't make an entirely accurate guess, but it should be close.
