Subject: Dont you hate it when...

you're playing Social Big Team and you go into a game against a party of 8 Five-star Generals? Every time this happens to me my team and i get destroyed so bad. Within a few minutes we are getting spawn-camped or are forced to hide in a base. Standoff is the worst map when this happens because you always spawn out side the base and get killed by the gauss hog in two seconds. And the worst thing is i never seem to get on those teams with all the five star generals:(

Does this ever happen to any of you guys?

It happens to me a lot.

  • 08.18.2010 6:46 AM PDT

ive had worse. once everyone on there team had recon and they were 5 star generals, i thought it was the bungie team but i don't think it was.

  • 08.18.2010 6:46 AM PDT

Chill.

This happened to me on Sandbox the other day, there was absolutely nowhere to hide. The other team had both hogs and both choppers. The two players were just picking up a few BR kills.

I'm pretty sure I ended up dying 41 times and got around -17. They capped the flag twice, and then waited to capture the last for about 15 minutes. Such bull-blam!-.

  • 08.18.2010 6:50 AM PDT

exact same thing happened to me two days ago i went -17 with 40-something deaths. there is absolutely nowhere to hide on that map

  • 08.18.2010 6:52 AM PDT

Chill.

And it's impossible to get to the rockets when they spawn with 4 vehicles driving around.

It takes the fun out of the game when they don't just score the flag. Those games go for like 20 minutes.

  • 08.18.2010 6:55 AM PDT

Yes this happens but normally I manage to get at least 20 kills and sometimes win against that kind of thing.

Then get better at the game. If you're going to be upset about something in that situation, be upset about your lack of skill both individually and as a team. The better team won, that's the way it is supposed to be.

May 11 will be known as Halo 2 Day for me from now on.

Well Ive been in the Navy since June 25, 2009 and its a fun job right now.

All I can say is social is meant to be played for fun as all games are so be ready to lose some.

Nope, because the only time I'm in a playlist like Social Big Team Battle, would be for the sole purpose of playing with 7 of my friends, which would all be 5 Star Generals at this point in the games lifespan.

Then, inevitably, after a few matches like the one you outlined in your OP, we get bored, and go play ranked playlists.

Ooh, I love those people, the ones who decide to throw everything and the kitchen sink at you, as if an M16 does anything to a T-90. Oh, MLG player with noobtube instead? Congrats! You blew off one of my ablative plates!

Gun, meet Bad Guy.
Bad Guy, this is Gun.

yup

i quit a few seconds in the game

then a few days later i matched the same guys even though i put bad player review against them

I'm never against a team with generals on it. But if they're on, we still kick their butts. You just gotta know when they're bluffing. (When they have a high rank just to intimidate you.)

Intimidate? You really need to get out more. People get 50's because they're good enough to get them. Granted, that's not saying much in Halo 3 but if someone gets a 50 and you can't then it still says something.

Thats because the 'prefer' and 'avoid' player features have no correlation to the matchmaking system.

Also, SBTB has extremely loose matchmaking restrictions which is why you see these huge discrepancies between skill sums on each team. In a playlist with a larger population like social slayer, you'll find 'even' games with a higher frequency. And 'even' games with the highest frequency in ranked gametypes.

its players like you who make it impossible for the non-general team to win. when half the team quits right at the beginning, the other team immediately starts dominating.

For the longest time, SBTB was a stat padding play list for me. I don't think Ive lost but a handful of SBTB games overall. After a while, I just play it to HTO or to have a competition to see who can get the most kills and still be in single digit deaths. Playing SBTB and looking for an evenly matched game is hoping for too much.

You're right, that team was probably going to get dominated anyway, but quitting just shows a level of insecurity about personal skill.

I hate when I HAVE IDIOT TEAMMATES and this happens. My team decides to just run around in the open and get killed by the hogs or Snipers instead of camping Laser spawn (Sandtrap) or generally do all they can to stop dying. Id rather go 5ks and 4ds for a +1, than go 18ks and 20ds for a -2 because that would mean i contributed to my teams score instead of theirs!

Did I say Ranked? No, I said Social. And I'm not intimidating anyone. I'm just saying that some high ranks on Social are jokes.

I like it. When that happens, I put on the tryhard pants, treat it like a ranked match, and play my best.
IT helps me get better, and I don't have to worry about losing ranks.

At least someone has the right idea. If you're whining about it, it means that you care as much as those "tryhards" that people like to make fun of. If you care that much, observe and learn so that you can improve instead of crying about the mismatch.
