These are good tips.

I time power drainers, bubble shields, sticky grenades & missle pods on default Slayer variants.

You could use some work on your chopper angles, though. That 3 star chopper would never hack it against a party of Squad Battle warriors.

Hates to love and loves to hate.

Nice thread, I also find myself whoring the chopper in TS Sandbox.

Rockets spawn every 3 minutes after whomever has picked them sits still for 3 seconds.

Thats only on a drop spawn, commonly known as 'dirtying' a weapon timer.

Are the sandbox rockets a drop spawn? If not, the 3 second immobility period is a non-issue, unless you are catching the weapon in the spawn animation, that is.

Isn't every weapon considered dirtied in standard gameplay?

No.

Only if you break the spawn animation.

I'm pretty sure most maps don't have drop spawns.

I <3 drop shields

That was really helpful, I feel like I learned a lot. I've never played a Sandbox games where choppers ruled it because I'm lower leveled but definitely useful for the future.

For your opening pro strat, where do you throw the power drainer?

I think you may have this backwards.

I always thought that MLG variants use drop spawns, which is why the weapons spawn slightly in the air, so the two-three second countdown starts as soon as the weapon hits the ground, so the spawn times are always consistent, unless someone "dirties" it.

And non MLG setting use regular spawns, with the weapon spawning fully on the ground, which is why spawn times aren't always consistent, unless you stand still for two-three seconds after picking it up.

Thats exactly what I said, just re-phrased.

Then i must have misunderstood you.

You say drop spawns are the only time you need the 3 second immobility? i always thought it was the other way around, where drop spawns are the only time you don't need it.

Correct.

Drop-spawns are the only type of weapon timer spawn that you need the 3 second period of immobility to start the respawn timer, provided you interrupt the animation (i.e, dirty the weapon)

Most default power weapon spawns are not drop spawns, therefore, the timer begins instantaneously. I.e, you pick up rockets on Sandbox at 11:55 and they respawn at 8:55, regardless of whether or not you have a 3 second period of immobility.

I'm like 98% sure. IDK. I've never heard of a dirtied power weapon in default, but I know for a fact that you have to stop moving to restart a power weapon timer on a dirtied drop spawn (MLG).

Either way....

Not really an issue for the type of people who would benifit from this thread I was just pointing out what I perceived to be an error.

I think tryhard is right, you have a it backwards.

MLG's drop spawns are to prevent dirtying, because non-drop spawns are dirtied by default. It forces you to stand still for 3 seconds for the timer to start. I guess Bungie wanted to prevent the possibility of having multiples of power weapons at the same time.

@Topic
Riot did a commentary about the same thing here about 5 months back if anyone doesn't feel like reading/downloading. Although it's very basic, so you may get more out of OP's.

You should get someone to cap the video for you and add a commentary, if possible. It's much more enjoyable :]

Oh.

My bad. Do you have a link or something? I guess I had it mixed up the whole time.

I fail.

I think Rockets on the pit are on a 3 minute timer but they're always up at least 10 or 20 seconds after camo even if they're picked at the same time.
