Subject: My Lone Wolves Guide/Tips

Hi guys,

This is just a guide to read for those who want to improve their highest skill at Lone Wolves. It's by far the easiest playlist to become a Brigadier in as long as you know some strategy, and doesn't require a ton of raw skill as long as you play smart.

I got to 45 very easily, but it did take a long time. Don't be discouraged if your level seems locked. It's not. It just takes about 6 more 1st or 2nd places than losses to level up, which is very time consuming. So let's start off with Slayer.

In Slayer, never ever start a fight unless somebody is charging you. Only end fights. If they're charging and trying to start a fight with you, use a grenade to predict where they'll go to get the easy one-shot kill. If they are charging you with the AR, back up (don't charge back) and shoot them in the head. Don't try to melee them unless you have no choice. You'll win 80% of these fights, trust me.

Remember what I said about only ending fights? Get a Battle Rifle and try to steal kills on people who are already fighting. This is cheap and dishonorable, but it works. Stay on the border of the main fighting, and pick off kills from afar. This helps you to stay alive and win the match.

On maps like Heretic and Construct, never use a lift if there's one person alone at the top. If there are two, lift to your heart's content, because chances are they're fighting and are both low health.

In Oddball, focus on killing the people around the ball first. There's an increased spawn time that you can use to your advantage. Everybody will charge the ball, but you'll sit back and use the kill stealing technique I mentioned earlier, then once everybody's dead, grab the ball and run. Only camp if you have an area where you can use the oddball's one-hit beatdown as a shotgun.

If you're not using the "Shotball" effect, always drop the ball and fight when under attack.

In King of the Hill, predict where the hill will spawn next. Like in Oddball, let everybody else do the fighting, and then kill the low health winner and use spawn time to your advantage. If it's a small busy map, try to sit in the hill and not be noticed.

In swords, again, try to kill people who are fighting. When you're in a sword duel, use B and not R to swing faster. IF your opponent also uses B, then back up, wait for them to miss, and use the R lunge to get the kill.

One more important tip - don't give up. By quitting or giving up, you're losing more skill points than you realize. I've been in last for the first half of plenty of games that I ended up in 2nd or 1st after going on a huge spree. Also, if you're in 2nd from last, it's not nearly as bad as dead last despite what you might think.

More general tips - veto your weaknesses, pick up battle rifles, time the power weapon spawns, and play smart.

Hope all this helps, and good luck!

Good tips, but I feel like this stuff should be common sense.

It should be, but most players surprisingly don't know it, and they keep charging in and dying. That's the biggest difference between people stuck at 40 and people who get 45+.

Great tips. I guess the most effective way to win in LW is to be a complete douche. That's usually what I do, and it works for me every time.

Stealing kills isn't "cheap and dishonourable," it's the point of the playlist.

Besides that, this is a decent guide for noobs. Basically the same as every other guide except condensed, so they'll actually read it.

The hardest part is actually getting them to believe you that it works... one of my friend's a commander and he refuses to believe that you can get enough kills in time without running around starting fights with everyone and trading AR beatdowns. I guess he doesn't realize just how much time he's spending in respawn.

Very nice tips. I myself was a Lone Wolves 45 at one point, and maybe these tips will help me get back up there.

I also strongly agree on the subject that the art of stealing kills is very important.
