This topic contains rants and ideas, Viewer Descretion Advised.

Halo 3. I realise that The Underground is tha place for topics about Halo 3 and all, but aren't there enough? What I mean is, there are countless topics titled "Halo 3 Ideas Here".Isn't 1 enough? There are like 4 on the front page. Its like a spam attack thats allowed.

In my oppinion, the mods need to lock some of those threads.

Your ideas?

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Well it can be annoying but you know, that's people for you.

Also, the moderators can't lock as technically, no rules are being broken. (or at leas tno rules that I know of)

Why not sticky one thread and have all Halo 3 discussion take place there? It would clean the place up a bit.

As I had stated in this thread, that would not be a good idea. Even if there was a stickied thread, do you really think that would stop the Halo 3 threads?

Because then it could appear that Bungie is confirming that Halo 3 exists.

You could change the wording up a bit and have it serve the same purpose. A "Bungie's next product speculation thread" would be more appropriate. It would not confirm nor deny anything, as we all know Bungie will be releasing a new product sometime in the future.

No, I don't. I could say the same thing of the MLG sticky. It doesn't stop all of the MLG discussion- however, it does cut it down dramaticly. Same goes for the Halo 2 montage thread, it has gathered up and deposited numerous threads into it's fold- saving a lot of forum space. I could even venture to say that stealing is illegal in every Western country (that I am aware of) but that doesn't, and can't, ever stop stealing entirely. It merely lessens it.

Whatever you do, the problem will still exist in one form or another, it's just a mater of how well you try to stop that problem.

It would not work for reasons listed earlier. People are not smart enough to realize that there is a thread already created for the same purpose.

And does anyone know when Halo 2 is coming out? (most asked question on the old b.net)

Because it's entirely possible that Bungie might not be making the sequel to the biggest grossing video game ever.....Microsoft being a non-profit and all.

But why when that's a major function of The Underground? Plus it would create a lot of disjointed posts in a single thread, each discussing different speculated games.

Yes, it is entirely possible. Who are we to know?

I would refer to this thread where antihersk8or writes:

Put it this way: If a moderator were to sticky a "speculation" thread on Pimps at Sea, Phoenix or Halo 3, many will think that is "proof" for said game. Like Rip Saw already stated, The Underground is doing it's job very well and doing anything else would just create more rumors. C'mon, Bungie is about busting rumors, not creating them.

Then have a Specualtion thred on Bungies next game. that would solve your problem.

For example:
"Next Game Speculation thread"

Discuss what you think bungies next game will be here.
Note: Anything in this thread is Pure Speculation and can not be taken Seriously.

I still don't see the problem with it. The MLG discussion in Zanzibar was becoming problematic, even though that the discussion of such things should technically go there. The reason the discussion was banned was not because it didn't follow the rules, it was banned because it was causing problems.

My point is that the Halo 3 discussion is causing spam problems in The Underground, just as the MLG posts were causing problems in Zanizibar. I don't see any difference between the two. If something is making the forums less enjoyable by being posted repeatedly (heck, just look at the forum, half of the topics are about Halo 3), then why on Earth would nothing be done to try to make the forum more clean?

Exactly. Like I said, its spam thats allowed. All these Halo 3 idea topics are pushing all the other topics to the back pages.

I think we should:
A) Make a sticky for "Ideas for Bungie's Next Project"

B) Ban the Halo 3 topics altogether (a tad to harsh...)

C) Clean The Underground with some thread locks

Take the Halo Movie sticky for instance. It was made, then maybe a week later Halo Movie threads became to be created less and less as members began to figure out that Halo Movie ideas go in that sticky. So what I think is, all we need is a Next Project sticky and a little patience.
