THE POLL IS SUPPOSED TO SAY "IS BUNGIE's BANHAMMER ALWAYS FAIR "
SORRY

Ok, I'll be different from all the other little kids coming here to complain about their bans, I admit it. I quit out of 50+ games for 2 reasons. 1. to get negative exp (just for fun). and 2. I was seeing how high I could get my teams dubz skill up without playing a single game. This is how it would work, I went into dubz with my friend and played with him untill we got to one point away from winning then I quit out. This results in a WIN for me and I receive a Skill increase. He goes up I go up, everyone wins! :)
But no, I don't win, Bungie puts on a blindfold and smacks me over the head with their big dumb banhammer as if I'm a pinata. Of course this results in a CONSOLE ban, not a so much simpler ACCOUNT ban. This is quit a bad time for me to get a CONSOLE ban (not allowing my main account to play matchmaking) for me and my MLG team are training to be in the upcoming PRO CIRCUIT 4v4 TOURNAMENT.
Bungie I respect the sophistication of you so called "BanHammer" but perhaps it should check that xbox's other accounts and if they too are frequent quitters you may deliver a console ban. The Least you could do is update the messages you get in the matchmaking menus, adding something like " Frequent Quitters will be Banned".

If you got account banned, you would more than likely just purchase another account and do it again. With a console ban, that's not a problem. Enjoy your vacation.

No if I got my account banned I'd be like "Wow you can get banned for that stuff, I'll never try that again." And You have remember I was doing this to have fun and see what would happen. Not to sell or anything like that.

Well I am glad someone finally fesses up to what he was doing. Sucks to hear that you were "having fun" with the boosting. But rules are rules. They have been put in place for a reason. I don't know anything about the message that shows up when you are banned from MM (I never got banned myself) but you do make a valid point that the MM menu should be updated.

As for trying to get your console unbanned, I am afraid you might be Blam! out of luck. If they were to make an exception for you, well then they would have to make an exception for every other person who makes an excuse as to why their console got banned.

Where's the "Yes" button, without that sniper watching me? :/

You can still play customs, right? And those are way better for preparing you for a tourny than MM, tbh imo.

I know that buy my teams not on live all the time, and I don't want to be the worst on the team so I have to practice a lot more (I'm fairly new to MLG compared to the rest of my team)

See I don't really understand a ban for quitting, its not unfair for anyone but the teammate, and mine didn't care. I understand a ban for host boots, 50 boosting (when every one in the match is boosting) and bridging host.

The BanHammer is very fair. If you break a rule, you will pay the consequences. I myself have broken a few rules, paid the price, and learned from them.

Also, nice one-sided poll.

Quitting can affect the outcome of the game, especially in objective. It will bring your team down, and other reasons.

The banhammer is on full auto, it does not take intentions into account- it bans based on behavior only. So while you may have just been having fun, you should have checked up on bannable offenses.

While I agree some of the BanHammers actions are fair, the lack of information regarding released regarding bans is lacking while playing the game. For me I had no idea quitting could result in a ban. Some rules need not be said (such as hacking). Bungie should update so that their matchmaking messages say some of the more obscure bannable offenses, not just the obvious ones aka. Network manitpulation, and modified content.

yes but it was team dubz and my teammate didn't mind. (I left as soon as we were 1 point from winning.

an exploit is an exploit buddy. read the xbox terms of service

Don't cheat in a game unless cheats have been deliberately enabled.

Don't intentionally play with someone else who is using unauthorized software or methods in order to help inflate your game rank or gamerscore.

If you violate the Code of Conduct or the Terms of Use that you agreed to, action may be taken against your account. Some offenses warrant an immediate account cancellation, including but not limited to hacking, modding, fraud, severe racial remarks, nudity on the Xbox LIVE Vision camera, continued creation of profane gamertags or profile content, and posting viruses or URLs to viruses. In addition, trying to avoid a temporary suspension by creating alternate new accounts may result in a permanent ban on the new user account and a possible escalation of punishment to the original account and all related accounts. If you create a gamertag that has been determined to violate the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct, you will be required to change it. If you create Terms of Use or Code of Conduct violating content anywhere in the system, we may delete it and a suspension of varying length will be issued on the account depending on the frequency and severity of the infraction. If we are notified that you are abusing the voice feature or message features, your ability to use the voice and messaging system will be suspended.

Microsoft is not obligated to send you a warning before these actions occur. If your account is suspended while participating in a tournament or competition Microsoft assumes no liability in the loss of any potential prizes or recognition related to the tournament or competition. all in all you exploited the game in some manner and should be punished.

In all

Ok, I hope for your sake that your not serious with that post. Half of it had nothing to do with my ban and the other half was complete bull. Its NOT an exploit there is no reason to call it that because its not exploiting (aka. CHEATING) anything. Next time think before you post a long paragraph having nothing to do with the topic. BESIDES this is about the BANHAMMER not XBL rules. Jeez...

  • 08.18.2010 9:07 PM PDT

it says actiona gainst your account NOT your xbox.

and how can u win if u leave 1 point befor winning? that should count as a loss and can be seen as exploiting.

OT:
of course its fair, sometimes might be unfair but most of the time it is fair.
you broke the rules, you pay the price but i do agree that the mm messages should be updated.
i didnt know quiting could get you banned befor i came on these forums..

Its not an exploit if you quit or get booted, and your team mate wins it counts as a win for you (its weird I know). But this is designed so that if you get booted or disconnected if you team wins you win so you don't feel upset just because your connection sucks or because you accidentaly team killed.

This part of bungie's site tells you information about bans and the address for that page comes up in the "tips" section while you're playing in matchmaking. Plenty of info, you just have to read it.
