Le Mediocrity. It's fun when we win, and funny when we lose!

I was just wondering about the Zanzibar forum - I used to post all the time in there during the spring, then took a really long hiatus, and going back in there recently, I noticed that it seems to have slowed down. Are people posting in there much less frequently nowadays? Just curious.

Even if it's slowing down I doubt that will do anything to all the off topic posting and flames.

Its because all the major halo 2 stuff is over and Zanzibar is mainly used to complain and rant now. I used to post in Zanzibar all the time but anytime i tried to do something worthwhile i got flamed. If i posted a sentence of calm i got flamed. If i helped someone out i got flamed basically the description of Zanzibar should be Halo 2 Multiplayer flame discussion.

Its slowed down, but its just full of garbage now.... Complainers as usual too, and people that dont know how to search for stuff before they post questions...

(This message was delayed due to the SPAM FILTER.... Sorry....)

I did exactly the same, and it would seem so.

Certainly miraculous, it is.

I believe a certain degree of acceptace has occured... eventually.

I don't know if its slowed down, but I do know that its faster than any other forum for threads falling to the back pages. I rarely venture into it because its all crap.

Maybe thats why people post Halo 2 stuff in The Underground sometimes. Because they're scared of the wicked trolls under the bridge known as Zanzibar.....

I use to post in there myself during the early days of Halo 2. Back then it wasn't so bad. Once cheaters crawled up from the depths of hell the only thing ever posted in there was complaints and rants. All ideas are flamed. No matter how good of an idea it actually is. I try to avoid Zanzibar most times. I'll visit it once in a while, but then I get disgusted and move on.

I still scan it daily looking for laughs, it's not good but it is better. I think the mods have been policing a bit more recently and the community is beginning to thin out as new games hit the shelves.

Why be scared of us, if you have more than three brain cells that work, we normally leave you alone...... well, until you post the same topic for three weeks straight. (read: Endershadow)

yoo•zel- ('yoo-zhul): slang: vb.

Well I’m sure the Spam Filter has had it’s hand in Zanzibar, I think being a little slower is better for that place. A lot of the ‘good’ discussion has moved over to Optimatch where people can actually discuss something on topic and Ninja on Fire has been keeping up with things over there.

Good points, although I'm pretty sure that Zanzibar had been having less traffic for a while before the spam filter. The filter probably just made it more noticeable.

I am bummed that the MTR thread became a victim of the new Zanzibar. Loss of an icon.

You think Zanzibar has slowed down? You never did see the old New Mombasa. That forum was just as fast as the old Zanzibar. Of course now it's slower than the Flood, but we can blame that on the migration habits of forum-goers. As Halo 2 heads towards old-schoolness, the people slowly move on to another game.

I check there every day but there is alot of spam and useless threads but occasionally you'll come across a good one.

P.S. If you like the zanzibar forum check out the link Aton P Nym posted in the sticky index to some game "little known facts". I took the time to read the whole thing and I was pretty impressed.

nah, It's still a flaming cheater complaint stupid forum.

You are entitled to your own opinion, but don't make the mistake of telling the webmaster or overlord that a forum is stupid.

Oh yeah, the spam filter. I guess, before Halo 2 came out, I never posted on any internet forums, so I kinda naturally assumed that it was always that way, threads falling to the back pages in 5 minutes. I mean, I remember that literally happening.

I guess with more mods and regulation, it might be slowly cleaning itself up. But I wonder if it can get back to how it was before all the cheating complaining threads happened. There was so much great stuff to read about the nuances of the game. And with the way the game's developed, there's so much more great stuff people can be talking about.

Call me a hopeless optimist or just disillusioned. I've just been fascinated by the electronic sociological evolution of the whole thing.

I'm with ya, this has been my first forum experience as well so I don't know how others normally look or work. I do miss the early days of Zanzi when there was a feeding frenzy of info hitting the page but I guess like all things that mature they slow down a bit :P

I'll be on my own side.

I came from the IGN forums, and Zanzibar is like the Septagon compared to those forums.

I'm thinking that Zanzibar will turn into a Multiplayer forum, for Halo 2 and whatever game is coming. If that happens, it's gonna be crazy in there.
