I'd like to post my thoery to get all you guys thinking.
THIS IS LONG! ITS OVER 4,000 WORDS AND HAS SIX CHAPTERS
Only read if your a true Halo fan!
THIS IS SERIOUS. This took me hours to create.
Enjoy!
1: Birth of a superpower
On a distant world, in a different arm of the Milky Way, There was a race more advanced then the forerunners, covenant and UNSC combined. They were the Precursors. They developed technologies and machines at an astounding rate. They could travel faster than light, build organisms smaller than the average amoeba, and make AI's smarter than they ever could be. Then, they began speeding up evolution.
2: Infection
They pushed the creature farther and farther along it's path of evolution, only careful to keep it just short of sentient. It was growing and multiplying and turning other animals into its own. They were fascinated. The released it into the wild. Bad mistake. The Infection absorbed all the livestock into its endless search for food. It absorbed all the less advanced creatures in the world. Then it went into the cities. Poverty and famine began, as fewer and fewer ships would dare land.
Soon, Infected creatures and poeple were common sights. Eventually, humanitarian efforts decided to evacuate the world.
One, just one creature made it onto the evacuation ship. It started a colony on other worlds. It began to develop ways of hunting its prey and ways of making efficient hunters out of the their prey. The infection grew worse and worse, until the point of Isolation began.
3: The Sentinels
The Precursors began to attack the creatures, but infantry was horribly killed fast and gruesomly. Then they looked towards Robotics. They began modifying their simple sphere-like AI helpes into soldiers and war coordinators. The soldiers began to be called Sentinels, for their attribute to send one in and have many follow. Then the real war started. The Sentinels went to the buisness of genecide. The little creatures would pound on sentinels, but to no avail. Then they began to evolve rapidly. They started turning there infected hordes to different rolls. Some could shoot crystalline projectiles from ther backs, others were stealthy, and masters of assassinations and hunting. Others carried smaller creatures to battle, sacrificing themselves to ambush the enemy. And even others just became the biggest, hardest to kill creatures possible. They were winning. The sentinels kept pushing back, but were starting to fall. The Precursors had no choice.
They left.
4: Point of No Return.
The Precursors were now alone. Fighting with their sentinels alongside. The last of their kind. They were desperate. They began production of the most horrible superweapons imaginable.
Bombs that could kill everything Sentient in the Galaxy. They called them Halos. They set them off. The Precursors, The flood, almost everything and everyone destroyed. Almost. The flood survives. Barely. They cling to The under belly of the Halos. Awaiting victims.
5: Survival
There was only one surviving colony of Precursors left. There was one problem. They didn't know they were Precursors. Their memory was almost wiped by the explosion. It was a wonder they survived. They began life anew. They Pulled themselves together and built a community. That's when they found the artifacts. Peices of technology. Including one AI who, upon awakening, believed that they were not Precursors. He taught them how to build, to program, to create. The AI told them that they were the only survivors. Saved by the Precursors specifically. They considered themselves chosen ones. They built and developed, and became a futuristic society. Then the Infection found them. It began again.
6: A Last Stand
The AI built sentinels and develloped an new army, but they were not privilaged as to have other colonies. They had one world, and one chance. They began to build a new Halo, but better. It could spare them from the blast but destroy the Infection. The day it was constructed, was also the faitful day they were overrun. The Ark. That was what it was called. It was too late. It lies dormant, just like the flood.
And the next unfortunate race to encounter it may have the privilage as to have a prebuilt weapon waiting.
THE END... So it seems.
