yeah a silenced pistol or battle rifle. i don't think u should start with it all the time. it would be good if u find stuff like that lying around and then u put it on the gun when going through the level.

if stealth is implemented in the game as much as bungie has hinted at then i think it will be very necessary

even in Multiplayer I think it would be fun, just for the james bond effect! But I think Silences weapons is a must! Because you could shoot all the sleeping grunts, instead of having to wack'em all! You could get more then one shot at a Hunter from the back, without the dump meat head knowing! And the Elites wouldn't be alerted right away! Those Bastards, I hate them all!

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

With silenced weapons win multiplayer, you could sneak into the enemy base any no one would notice :) It would be cool nailing someone in the head with a silenced pistol.

It wouldn't be just cool! it would be badass! I am already awesome at halo, are you (Bungie) going to give me more toys? Please do!

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

But silenced weapons could get complicated in multiplayer. Do you find the silencers on the ground? If so then how do you put it on or take it off? What guns can you put it on? I think it should stay simple, it's already going to be complicated eough as it is with dual weilding and peeking(I'm talking about button layout). I'm sorry if this isn't entirely coherent I'm tired and I think I'll go to bed now.

yeh i agree... its gotta stay simple... 2 many different buttons to pres all the time if there where interchangable things like silencers... but if they think of an easy way to use it.. i WANT IT!!

Would it sacrifice accuracy, though?

In response to Lysander: It would more likely decrease the weapon damage and range significantly. Silencers don't work without firing relatively low-velocity subsonic ammunition, and judging by the effect the powerful (by modern standards) 7.62x51mm round fired by the assault rifle has on an Elite's shields, you wouldn't want to have a silenced gun in Halo. The only way I could see this being implemented is if you had a silenced battle rifle in one mission and used it to take out Grunt and Jackal sentries - it would have little effect on an Elite if you're detected. That would be more than enough motivation for me to sneak around. Of course, unless Bungie really does make the switch to that new magnum pistol from the good ol' overpowing M6D silencing the pistol would be moot. The Halo pistol fires .50 caliber hi-explosive rounds. Obviously, if the round explodes when it hits the target it's not very silent. I guess a regular .50cal round wouldn't do much at all if it takes around 4 torso shots to take down a Grunt. I wonder if the silencer is the main reason Bungie will, or probably will, make the switch to the magnum.

Of course, all this is assuming Bungie pays attention to realism, something they did do with Halo and apparently with Halo 2's weapons.

Silenced weapons? Almost surely not. One reason is that we would have heard about it already, another is bungie is running out of buttons to do stuff, with the new sprint feature and the complicated dual weapon thing. But i was wondering if maybe there would be a combat knife in the game as a melee weapon.
