Subject: 50's in Halo 3

gotta be honest i wouldnt really compare pros to anything they are mainly good at the mlg playlist(which to me stands apart from other playlists i dont play it though because it feels odd to me) and average at other playlists or above average you dont see people like legit with multiple 50s in playlists like snipers, squad, swat, or lonewolves.

Ace was one of the first Ranked BTB 50s. Legit is rated like, top 3 on Halo Charts. A lot of pros have 50 gens in doubles too, and I play a lot of pros in high level snipers too. Im not trying to compare people to pros, I'm just using their playstyles as examples.

What?
Legit has multiple 50s. He played on them all before MLG came out.

I find playing on my 50 in slayer easier than playing on a 35 sometimes because the other team is so spread out and spamming grenades with their ARs blazing. But thats just my opinion, other players find it easy all the way up in team slayer then difficult in the high 40s.

Wait playing on a 50 in TS is easier than playing on a 35 in TS? What game of 50 high slayer involves people running in straight lines with ARs? Maybe I have the wrong idea but this is how you worded it.

I know, but the AR pressure makes me choke up sometimes. Don't get me wrong its not like their completely wrecking me, I'm just saying that I have more trouble dealing with how aggressive they play and the constant nading. 50 high ts can be more passive, and you at least get some team mates that have an attention span high enough to help you kill somebody. I guess I should of added going in by myself :P my bad.

Legit has like 10 50s. Most pros will play other playlists from time to time but they never stay around because they would rather practice for MLG. Lets not forget the original BTB hero Intheclutch who went on to become a pro.

Before I go skateboarding, I just wanted to make an add-in on the subject of Legit... His motto says tu legit tu quit... and he recently retired from h3. I dont know, I thought it was pretty hilarious. hahah

I kind of get what he's saying.

It's because they are unpredictable. Most of my H3 games are 50 high MLG games, so when I occasionally play on a tag in the 30s or low 40s it might take me a game or two to adjust. Not because they are better than me or my team, but because they play completely differently than how I'm used to my opposition playing.

He's got 50s in LW, and in the US championchip play list and the hardcore play list when they were out.

See now I got you. At 50 high TS its the same old stuff over and over again. People run the same strats and it really boils down to player skill. At level 35 TS you might be liable to see all 4 people run down rocket hall and that wouldnt happen at 50 high TS because everyone would split up and go for everything.

50s are rarely good at the game. Most of them cheated to get their rank, and get pwned by brigs.

Couldnt have said it better myself

  • 08.20.2010 8:16 PM PDT

Think, write, and reflect.

One should also consider that a person may have legitimately attained a rank of 50 or so, but then left the game for a considerable period of time. Therefore the 50 may not have his current skills back to his original par.

Though I am not a 50, a respectable 43, I have largely left Halo 3 several months ago. I thoroughly enjoyed the Beta, Halo Wars, some Halo: CE and I know this may seem like herasy ..... other titles. My Halo 3 skills did suffer.

I have halo reach beTA!

I agree with Dr3aMiZzLe. Confidence is a important factor. I didn't think I could win this lone wolves game once( wasn't my day, last place) But in the end, I tied for first, because I was confident, and I did NOT quit. There was a level 49, which I guess is pretty comparable to a 50.

Ignorant response is ignorant, good job Blueprint, still one of my most hated on Bungie.net.

The skill gap between a legit General and other ranks is great, but the skill gap between a legit pro and a legit 50 is even greater.

  • 08.20.2010 9:28 PM PDT

The biggest difference in 50s TS and mid (30-40) TS isn't just the opponents, it's your teammates.

Mid range= no callouts, poor team BRing, NO map control, NO weapon control.
Whereas high TS is the exact opposite.

Your teammates are every bit, if not more, important than your enemies skill level.

A team of four 35s talking and actually playing as a team could definently beat a team of four 50s that are "lone wolving it". (obviously this doesn't happen very often)

Thats the HUGE difference in play style you encounter between playing on a 50 tag and a 35.

Only regret is I didn't play more of it.

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm sort of a jerk.

Wait, your rank went down to a 46 form 39? Looks like you skipped your 40, then.
Posted by: CINCY283
to me, 40s are hard... I had a 39 in team SWAT, and went down to 46... :( I just want a 40 XD

Exactly. I went on Fiesta and got King of the Hill against a 50 named "Chow 1" and a 48 named "Chow 2". Chow 1 got 7 points and Chow 2 got 3.

Yeah, but what was their K/D? It was probably +20 something.
I rarely go for hill time.

A big part of it people dont realize is that there are different playstyles, and just because youre a field major (as a random rank, nothing against field majors) doesnt mean you dont have higher skills in certain portions of the game than the 50 does. I have 50s in MLG, Swat, Slayer, Doubles, Snipers and almost lone wolves, and I get beat in social once and a while when playing playing against colonels and such. It comes down to playstyles. I know when I'm playing social, I think can play more aggressive because I feel like I have the upper hand and am confident that I'm a better player. Some people only play good against people who are really good. Some players (most of you know who Neighbor is and hes a prime example), are very emotional, when it seems like the other team is "picking" on them (team shooting them, calling them out excessively), they start playing worse because of the pressure. Some people feel like just because the other team got a 10 point lead right away means were guaranteed to lose. It really doesn't matter what rank you are, it comes down to how confident you are. If you look at 50s in the pregame lobby and are already giving up, then chances are you wont win, but if you say "come on guys, they cant be that good, we got this." All you have to do from that point on is stay calm and keep your head in the game. Some 50s cant play without close friends of theirs in which theyve grown a chemistry with throughout the game and know how to play off of eachothers playstyles. There are different roles in competitive Halo that most of you should know,(I'll use old Str8 Rippin as an example) Main Slayer, Objective, Support, and Strategist. The main slayer feeds off call outs, (Snip3down), the strategist tells best times to push, play objective, exc (T2), the objective player obviously listens to the strategist(Elamite), and the support player is putting shots in everyone and calling them out (TuLegit). And always remember 50s have bad days too... usually saturday morning with hangovers ;). Not all of them are jerks, I'm always game for giving people tips on getting better, and I don't charge people like most 50s. If you want more in depth lessons on how to play smarter, or anything Halo 3 related, feel free to message me.

Comparing MLG pros to run of the mill 50s is like comparing run of the mill 50s to guests.

"MLG pros" are the noobs who couldn't make it on quake :)

Having a mic in doesnt change the fact that the person(s) are 50s. Even without a mic they know where to move and to move in groups. As well as their individual BRs are greater then the 35s, even if it's 2 on 1.
