Do you think the new tracking feature on the rocket launcher will be balanced. I'm sure if the feature has been added and people have played with it in the E3 demo that it works fine, but it just seems like it will make driving that much tougher. In blood gulch you can use the Warthog effectively as long as you can dodge the guy with the rocket launcer. But if they could just track you from a mile away, you would have no chance of surviving. I thought the dumb-fire aspect of the rocket launcher balanced the issue of it being so powerful, but will adding the tracking feature nullify that handicap. I guess with the destructable vehicles you won't die instantly from being hit with a rocket, but it still puts a big damper on driving. I have faith that Bungie knows what it's doing, so we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't remember being able to dodge rockets on foot in Halo 1. Of course that's because people would wait to shoot it at near point blank range. And if it tracks people, I don't see how you could dodge it. Especially since the rocket would kill you even if it only hit near you.

I say that if you get hit by one of the rockets its your fault because you couldn't kill the guy fast enough. Plus no more annoying banshees!!!!

The rocket can only track on vehicles.

I think it will be fair because the rockets have been slowed down very much so actually it will be harder because you will have to judge it more.

Unless they track you from a long ways off at they fire before you realize what's happening. At least with non-tracking rockets you could dodge a long fired rocket, but if it's tracking you, you're done for. I guess it would be nice for tacking down banshees, but I never played the PC version of halo, so I don't know what banshees are like in multiplayer. They never really bothered me in the single player campaign.

As long as they are still dumb-fire against humans, I think I could live with a slow tracking rocket on vehicles.

SB-117

In that E3 2004 video the tracking rocket never actually destoryed the warthog fully. So it won't be nearly as bad as people make it seem. The warthog can take quite a few of them before giving in.

well it won't be that bad now that there is vehicle damage....before if you got hit with a rocket you'd be dead and the warthog would be fine....now you and the warthog will be injured. not dead and fully intact.

Yeah and that means that if you die in the warthog and they take it they would die easier!

it doesn't track people on foot, only vehicles, bungie confirmed this. its not like it hits you every time, it only homes in to a certain degree (HMT). plus once you see all those banshee and vehicle whores you'll be thankful for it

rocket launcher is too large to duelweild which is good. and what i meant by my previous post is that target tracking won't be that bad cause if you get hit you won't die...you'll prolly just fall out and then you can own whoever just busted up your ride...

Very fair and here's why. The rockets now accelerate as they go like real life this throws off anti infantry rocketing. Also the splash damage is reduced forcing direct shots. And for the vehicles Joe had a hard time killing that worthog with tracking and if he cant I am betting it's not that easy if anything there making it more necessary to be *gasp* skilled with a rocket launcher.

What about the possability of a 3rd type of grenade. A flare grenade that could be thrown by one of the vehicles passengers and the rocket would hit that instead?
This would actually give you a reason to want to ride shotgun in the Hog.

if you look at the e32k4 multiplayer vid it seems to take 3 or 4 rockets to take out a warthog

The only part about rocket tracking that I'm concerned about is this:

Let's say I'm in a Wart hog, and someone on my 3:00 launches a tracking rocket, but I keep heading forward. The rocket is following me, now on my six, and right when it gets close enough, I turn the view directly around, so the back of the Warthog fishtails around. Now, does the rocket make a 90 degree turn and hit me, make a wide turn and hit me from behind, and do these tracking rockets have timers, or what?

I worry about such things because I am a great Warthog driver, I'm always the one who has to worry about this kinda stuff, So judt trying to figure this out.

It tracks you then it starts to follow your moves I think so then you just have to out drive it or turn a sharp corner and it will blow up
