I just got back from Best Buy and purchased Halo: CE for PC. I actually went and bought the game for the visual flair I will receive in Halo: Reach, but I am willing to play it and check it out.

So, list what you think I should do first. Thanks!

-Sic transit gloria mundi

After avidly playing Halo: CE on the Xbox for more than eight years, I'm thinking of buying Halo PC myself, so do what I would do.
Play through the campaign on legendary. It's really not as hard as most people make it out to be.
Just follow these four crucial tips:
1) The pistol is amazing, and without question is the most useful weapon in the game. Use head shots on grunts, and the "shot to hand, shot to head" approach on jackals.
2) Use plasma grenades to stick elites. They are the biggest threat, and with luck will take out numerous enemies at once.
3) Use plasma weapons on elites. When out of range of grenades, use either the plasma rifle or plasma pistol to quickly take down elites. The plasma pistol overcharge will take down their shield so you can cap them with your pistol. The plasma rifle has a "stunning effect" that lowers his threat level a little.
4) Use cover and distance. Getting up close is a deathwish. It is much easier to dodge shots from a distance. And a safe cover point or "hold point" can be a lifesaver in a brutal encounter.

The perfect guide.

I am a firm believer that when bungie makes you spawn with a pistol, kill someone with a rocket launcher.

I think there is a cut off date for the visual flair. ALso i think it was 3 months ago. But to answer your question, i would go get halo custom edition. its a standalonethingy...just go on the halo wiki and search halo custom edition becasue i dont want to give you wrong information. If you dont want to do that then the other thing would be to beat the game with only a certain weapon and if you dont start out with that weapon, you should only use melee and nades. It is kinda reminicent of black eye skull and famine skull on halo 3.

I thought the same thing, until of course yesterday when urk said that he retracted his comment about the May 26 cutoff. He also mentioned copies of Halo 1 for PC available at retailers. Also, I posted a thread on the Halo: Reach forum yesterday to validate that if I went and bought Halo 1 for PC, I would be able to receive the visual flair. It's all in the update.
