Subject: Bungie is too money hungry...

About a week or two ago my friend and I were playing rumble pit when suddenly it said the gametype was unavailable. About 20 mins later it finally brought the gametype back and neither one of us had the maps required. We both pissed away money on all the maps except for the most recent ones. Now of ALL the game types we can only play two of them. Shame on you, Bungie. You have slowly sucked the lift out of matchmaking until only two game types are available. It's quite obvious you will -blam!- Reach players as well and turn a $60ish game into $100+ with all of the maps that must be downloaded later.

So congrats to Bungie because I know of people who aren't going to bother with Reach because of what seems like recurring membership fees. Oh and those of you who are going to trash talk like the forum and game trolls you are, I don't care.

Dragon Ball GT is the bane of my existence
I love Pokemon, Dragon Ball, DBZ, and DBK
"Where did you get that muffin?"
"Muffin button."
'But I didn't install a muffin button."
"Then where did I get this muffin?"

Why do we care that you can't afford the maps?

They need to make money after everyone's bought the game, and it's not a big deal considering how maps like foundry and sandbox allow players to greatly increase the possibility's with forge.
Also if you bought the DLC from the marketplace you can download it again for free or, buy ODST and get every map from the disc itself.

I shall reply so you can gain a better understanding of what exactly is going on rather than the silly 'money hungry' one.

For starters, the majority of the Halo community already has every map. Therefore you not having them, you are in the minority. So they are, by making playlists DLC required, giving that MAJORITY the ability to play the content they paid for. Which seems near the opposite of 'money hungry.'
Secondly, Halo: Reach is coming out. Due to this, the player population is going to drop dramatically. Very few people will be playing Halo 3 in comparison to Halo: Reach. Due to this, Bungie will be removing some playlists and melding others into each other. They also make them DLC required? Why? Well with this relatively low population, they want people to find games. So since they have made playlists DLC required, they aren't going to do something like add non-DLC required playlists. Why? Because that would split the population and make it that much harder to find a game.

Making playlists DLC required is for the enjoyment of the majority of the community. If you don't like it, then go buy Halo 3: ODST. It comes with all the maps, PLUS it's an epic game in its own right (not to mention it isn't $60 anymore so there's really no reason not to buy it!).

I hope that helped you.

IT'S TIME FOR A DICKING

How do they sleep at night?

  • 08.21.2010 2:39 PM PDT

Ok, so you want to -blam!- over those who actually bought the maps because you are an idiot?

You know who else is "money hungry"?

Gas Stations
Grocery Stores
Landlords
Credit Card Companies
Hospitals
Universities
and the list goes on.......

It's called a business guy. Maybe you haven't realized this, but Bungie doesn't make Halo just for people's enjoyment (although I'm sure it's a byproduct they are proud of). They do it to *GASP* make money and turn a profit! They provide a service in the form of games, new maps, etc. and we (the community) are free to purchase them or take our money elsewhere.
Last I checked COD and other similar games require map packs after a certain period of time....

I really just think you are trying to troll, so I'm not even sure why I bothered to respond....

I am a loyal halo fan, and good player; I play fair using only my skill and dislike anyone who curses every five seconds or cheats.
You wish you had a friend as nice as me.

if you think bungie is money hungry, you obviously never payed much attention to microsoft.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Bungie do not control the pricing, Microsoft do. Take it up with them.

I could have eaten a box of Alphabits and crapped out more logical proof than that...

The majority of people, regardless if they agree with the pricing, have bought the maps or ODST. It's only fair then that they should be able to play these new maps in matchmaking. Also, as others have stated, Microsoft is in charge of Halo DLC pricing, as they own the IP. While I understand your frustrations, it's hard to justify not adding the new maps to matchmaking when only a small portion of the community doesn't own all of the maps.

You never replied so you never started a controversy.
Also INB4 you say that was on purpose.
