What annoys me, is the fact people who stayed with Halo on it's original release platform, the Xbox, get nothing.

Halo Waypoint Scans achievements yes? Well, why can't 343 or even Bungie develop something which scans Halo CE game saves? I can't imagine it would be hard. But then again, I'm no programmer.

Seems like a slap in the face to people like me who have been playing the Halo campaign for the last several years, and not the multiplayer on the pc. However great it is.

A couple thoughts here -

First, I'm glad you guys actually care about this! Supporting Halo 1 PC has been a big thing for me over the years and I'm glad it still gets attention.

For the cutoff - I heard from a lot of people last week who only played it for Campaign, and therefore didn't have their keys in the active list. Excluding them would be unfair.

Also, let's say that the cutoff date were still in place. People who wanted to buy a copy for the flair would still be able to, they'd just end up buying a code used from someone who had played the game but not redeemed the code for the flair. You'd end up doubting the legitimacy of people's logos just as much, and we'd end up creating a grey market for used codes and have to deal with complaints of people who bought codes that had already been activated. We probably still will, but at least this way we're not begging for it to happen :-)

So basically, allowing the smallish number of people who will buy it for the flair to get it from retail will keep things cleaner and fairer in the big picture.

p.s. - the thing about Halo 2 flair was occasionally misreported, even by us. The official plan was supposed to be this (and occasionally messaged correctly): if you EVER played halo 2, you get the flair. If you played Halo 2 in the last days, you got early access to the Reach beta. And that's what we're doing.

Does Campaign will signed in on the 360 count towards this?

Not as far as I'm aware, no. I could be wrong though. :)

We must move forward. Learn, Improve, Evolve

For those who have it Halo Combat Evolved on xbox. Shouldn't they get the flair as well. If you have recently played it it shows up on the achievement section of recent played games but only on the xbox and people can see that. But you can't see it on on the internet that you played it. So I'm suggesting a when Halo Reach comes out to have a search played Halo Games option. This way it can unlock the Flair for Halo Combat Evolved. Also this will work for the other Halo's that give you a flair (2,3,ODST,ETC). Halo Combat Evolved shows up as Halo in your Achievements. Also I'm still addicted to the campaign I going through it once again to complete it on legendary which I've done many times before(original xbox)

RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here

I am also really upset that anyone can get the Halo PC flair now, because I have a feeling a large percentage of the people with the flair won't even be real Halo PC players. I guess it was sort of a good thing to do, because of the players that only used the game for campaign, but it still is pretty disappointing.

I agree. If this is even possible, it should definitely be done.

Australia

Yea I agree, should be for original xbox players of Halo.CE to, but I'm not sure how it would be done.

What we could do, is have the really dedicated halo PC players only wear that flair, and not the 3 game combined halo flair...

The U.E.S.C. Marathon emblem that appears on my profile was designed by me and picked by Bungie [Bungie All-Star competition] to be available for use by anyone on the Bungie forums.
"Yours to manipulate, to destroy and rebuild"

What about the people who played hundereds of hours of Halo on the Xbox console? People who could not afford a decent computer?

(Although I do own H:PC from back in the days).
I'd say it's a pretty big way to show your loyalty to the series if you even happen to find a copy in the stores 7 years after the release.

Something smells fishy...

I think it would've prevented complaints by XBOX users if Bungie had designed two separate visual flairs. One for Halo CE PC that required a product key to be activated and one for Halo CE XBOX that did not require a key.

There would have been a decision to be made on whether or not to have linked a Halo CE PC flair to one's gamertag or a Halo CE XBOX flair to one's gamertag. A freedom of choice that is.

Ofcourse both flairs could not have had the same symbol. But both could have been designed with symbols that represented Halo CE. For Example the design available to Halo CE XBOX users could have had an XBOX logo plus a symbol of something nostalgic pertaining to Halo CE.

Once Halo CE XBOX users had selected the Halo CE XBOX flair then it would've been linked to their gamertag.

If it wouldn't have been possible to link the Halo CE XBOX flair to a gamertag in advance, then the flair could have been linked from the Halo: Reach main menu (or something like that).

Yeah, I know what you mean, been playing PC for a few years, still love it! I also feel sorry for all the guys with Xbox HCE, nothing can really be done, though. =/

You're asking people to state which non-released game they like better?

It's like asking a virgin whether they like being on top or on bottom.

I've had almost all the Bungie games since Marathon, but I did not own Halo for the PC. I owned it for the Xbox.

You telling people they don't deserve to be able to have it is ridiculous. You know that most people who went out and bought the PC version lately probably owned the original.

what hurts most is i had halo on the xbox and bought again as a download on the marketplace after my first was lost (friend brrowed it :P ) but i cant even find a copy to get a third i give up :(

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

I doubt it.

But I do know one thing; If some kid starts trash-talking in Halo Reach, and he's wearing the HPC flair, you bet your ass I'm gonna ask him for his Xfire so we can 1v1. And if he admits to having never played HPC, I'm going to promptly tell him to shut his mouth and take the flair off. If you've never played the game, you don't deserve the flair. End of story.

Doubt it all you might, but the only reason anyone would go out and buy it would have to be, to my logic's extent, to unlock the "HALO" tag next to their name by having all 3 Halo games. Most people who owned Halo 2 had Halo: Combat Evolved, and then later bought Halo 3 Now, you can see the predicament for people who have all 3 games, but did not play any on the PC or Mac, they've been loyal fans. Infact, more loyal seeing as to how the game was released in 2001, yet the PC and Mac editions were released in 2003.

Now, I've been a supporter of Bungie since around the time of Marathon, I've obviously played Halo longer than someone who had bought it for the PC or Mac rather than the Xbox so, due to your logic, I should have a better piece of flair than you.

It sounds silly. Please reconsider the way you feel.

That is what I did. I didn't play Halo on a computer, but I feel like I deserve the flair. I too love all things Halo, and Bungie, related.

And, to be honest guys, it is only flair. But, what it may mean to someone might be completely different to someone else, so I hope no one is reading over this thinking of how stupid we all seem.

I have played Halo CE on the xbox since I was 10. I was glad to find out that everyone can now get the flair with a purchase of Halo CE PC.

I looked for it for three days in five different cities.... I didn't find it. Now I'm ordering it online and it will take 5 days to get to me.

However, I have heard that people's keyes are already being used. So what's the risk of mine being already taken? Are some of the codes the same?

The final 12(?) people still playing Halo 2 (Xbox Live) were given early beta codes for their awesomeness.

That was supposed to be for all Halo 2 players..... but I got my code three days into the beta -_-

Yeah I'm pretty sure only the final 14 Halo 2 players got a beta code. And they weren't even from Bungie, GamesRadar gave them to us.

They did indeed. I was disconnected during the final 20. Won a code through a small challenge anyway. :)

If Bungie had made it so that rather than needing Halo 1, Halo 2 and Halo 3 flairs to get the "HALO" emblem, you instead needed Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo: ODST and Halo Wars then console gamers would feel much better about it all.

Then Bungie could've had the Halo PC flair as it is currently and I'm sure many people would be more happy.

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

If they want the flair so badly, why don't they just buy Halo 1 Xbox from the Live marketplace?

It's all there for Microsoft to know who has it, surely Bungie and Microsoft don't want to miss this opportunity to sell their old games? $$$$$

Halo wars isn't even a Bungie game, for one. These nameplates are meant to show dedication towards Bungie and the Halo series. If you unlocked the "Halo" nameplate by playing all these recently release games, it doesn't show as much dedication as owning Halo PC, Halo 2, and Halo 3.
