Would it be cool to have a replay that shows you pretty much how you killed "that guy"?

No, like in "soccer" ( games ) you can see a "replay".

So you could press start, go to replay, and basicaly control it inch by inch, until that head comes off.

So in the middle of the game online, you go into a replay to check out a guy getting shot?

like an option to view "saved replays" kinda like in "wreckless: the yakuza missions" where you could save awesome replays of some of your most awesome plays in halo2, and view them later, acted out in realtime, slow-mo, or however u wanted it, from any player's perspective, and/or from any angle in the map. For halo1 i have often hooked up a vcr to my tv so i could record my halo matches in the chance of catching anything awesome that might happen at any given moment. Sometimes, the guy im playing against (sys-link) would wonder where i was when i sniped him, or how i got around him with the flag, or etc..., and with the recording, i could show him. But that is a static recording, whereas in halo2, the actions of the players would merely be saved and reenacted out as it was played (a la quake III), where the replay files were only like 100 KB. So yeah, i think this'd be an awesome feature, and should be in the game!!...or ill just have to hook up a vcr to the tv.... :P

I fyou could save a game that'd be good, but it's not applicable in MP

A "kill-cam" thing like in Call of Duty would be cool (it shows how you were killed from the killers perspective), but it gives away the enemy position if you didn't know where they were, so I'd say that a replay feature where you could simply record entire matches would be nice and view from everyone's perspective.

and best of all the replay files (to reiterate this) would be very small, as they would only contain instructions on how to reinact all the events, including the players' movements, viewing angle, and when buttons were pressed.....like 100-200 KB like in quakeIII arena (or soemthing like that) which means u could potentially have thousands upon thousands of replays without any dent in ur hdd space... U could learn strategies, see how your enemy acted when u were running with the flag, how accurately they sniped you, what your teammates were doing when u told them to cover, or whatever. So much could be gained from these replays (not to mention u can show off ur skillz to whomever doesnt believe you by just showing them ur 300 m snipe in the head while they were in the warthog with the flag wort!) that....i'd still make vcr recordings if it wasn't implemented lol :P

It would great, especially if the replay was in a 3rd person view and had a option of a free roam kind of thing.

They've mentioned it [Bungie], but haven't confirmed it. Also, it was on the menu in the beta screen shots.

It would be cool if you could jump into the action at any point while watching as well.

in the beta that was out, there was a "saved replay" option - don't know if it worked or not, but it ws there. For the myth series, they had a replay thing that you could control and spin around everything in 3d

I think a free roam camera would be cool, you could move it around while the replay was going on. Like the spectator cam in "Star Wars Jedi Outcast II".

this thread is definitly worth a bump... ahem i mean this thread could use some more discussion

i would like a replay function that is a free roam camera like cross check said, be able to slow down, pause, stop, rewind and stuff like that, and if its a good match, save it to your xbox's harddrive and be able to play it back and record it on your computer

  • 08.09.2004 1:26 PM PDT

That would be gnarley.
