The Most Obvious Use for the "X" Button

Dude, Pimps at Sea is like Halo, going 30 knots in a harbour, being chased by clippers and Man-o-war. And the Man-o-war are firing.

Think it would it stop if the mods spent a week blacklisting every person who used it the instant they saw it?

Zanzibar would be a ghost town for a week or so though...

There would be like 4 people on B.net

That would be kinda hard. They have the Blam filter but i think they need to blam some more variations of it. like N00b....

Little background info: This rule was not created by bungie. Its a Mod created rule, but bungie supports it fully.

I'd just like the wod to be gone. So many people miss-using it. So much useless posting involving nothing more than "Don't be such a N..." and "N... like this are stupid" "Ur a n..."

OMFG I hate this word.

Make. It. Die.

Did that last sentence make sense? I'm confused...

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

It made perfect sense, if you understand it.

You shouldn't understand because I wasn't talking to you.

As for blamming noob, I wish there was a filter you could turn off and on. In the old days, people had a choice as to what they wanted to read or not. That was before the huge increase of users.

The most people I've ever banned in a SINGLE sitting for political discussion is roughly 25~30 people.

Didn't stop political discussion, now did it?

Barron won't touch a political discussion with a 10 foot pole, so it does work on some occasions (when the member is smart enough not to test it again).

I would love to get rid of that word completely, but Zanzibar would end up being a wasteland. There are other words that I would love to get rid of, but are not against the rules. Of course, they could be considered against the Code of Conduct. ;-)

It stopped me, didn't it?

I don't expect it to actually happen, more like wishful thinking/speculation...

It just seems to remove all possibility of intelligent discussion. Whenever it's used, there's no debate, just rabid flaming.

ls this a racial thing? l mean listen ... hear me out... People shouldn't throw around the "N" word like a sentence enhancer, but come on. l'm ltalian, when people call me a fat ass, meatball eating mobster l laugh. lt's funny. l know l'm not fat, and l hate meatballs. Most people don't mean to be nasty or racial. lt's just a joke. What about "white-trash?" lsn't that the "N" word equivalent for a white guy? No one cares about that.

Maybe it's because blacks were enslaved once ( a long time ago!) and they just find the word offensive.... l don't know. ls that what enslaved African-American's owners called them? What does the word "NlGGA" come from anyway? But why can black people say it, but if a white dude says it, it becomes racial?

Like l said, don't throw it around everyother sentence, but it shouldn't be something worried about to much. ls the word Mexican -blamed-? ls the word Jew -blamed-? People take stuff so personally. l laugh at jokes like that. lf some one starts flaming someone because of their skin color, okay, fine it's wrong. But you all gotta lighten up.

No, not that "n" word, that one already gets you a ban. Far less serious.

I'm from Zanzibar...and I think it would be funny to have an auto ban on that word. I'd love that.

I have long advocated turning the Disembodied Soul loose on flamers and "blam"-dodgers in Zanzibar. However, I now understand that the processing load would cause a server failure of Biblical proportions as flamers flame and flame and flame and the Soul keeps plodding on...

-- Steve still thinks it'd be cool, though. Just not practical.

  • 09.16.2005 6:42 PM PDT

I'm not that active, but never dead.

I occasionaly use the word, but never in a derogatory way. Most of the times I use in reference to myself whenever I do something "newb-ish". Remember: It's not the word you hate, but the person who said it.

MrAlexZander wonders why steve is the only person of rank that has an animated Avatar and why he always talks in third person.
MrAlexZander concludes probably because it's cool.

That's a great idea! Get Biblical on them!

If there was a way to slow the soul down, so as not to kill the server :)

Of course, that would really suck if you made a typo and didn't get -blam!-ed... Though many people just type -blam!- most of the time anyways. More control over it that way.

Still, not practical.

New plan: Deputize a bunch of members with the power to shell out one-day Black-Listings for a temporary trail period. If the same person gets a BL from two different deputies, black-list them for the full seven days. Would that be easier, or harder on the servers?

Ya, there are a bunch of hholes in that plan too, I'm just not typing them all right now.

No. The "n" word that we are referring to is "noob". Look at the rules in my signature, it's mentioned in there somewhere.
