No, it's not at all.
If you consistently die twice as much as you kill, then you are a hinderance to your team.
I don't agree. I have helped my teams win matches, regardless of k/d.

Look at my k/d it's 4 something, that's why I have won all but 1 game, because I am killing waaaaay more than I am dying, hence, we win.
Not opinion, it's a fact proven by my winning ratio against yours in correlation to our k/d's.
EDIT:
OP, if you want to put this to the test, add me and my friend and I will take you and as many of your friends as you like on at once.
Concerning with your better k/D ratio does not mean anything to me. Gamers who are more interesting in their best k/d are egotistical and is actually a hindrance to the team they are involved in matches, especially in objective matches.
In real life, a quarterback who is more interesting in scoring most TDs for himself than for the team turn off the whole football team. I had a quarterback in college who was high-flying full of -blam!- and treated his teammates like crap, yet the head coach revered him like a god. Needless to say, we had a losing season because of that egotistical, big-headed QB who kept scoring touchdowns for himself (and kept getting sacked as well).
