The man with a hammer begins to see everything he encounters as a nail
Unfortunately, Halo 3 is going to die a less dramatic and dumbfounding death than Halo 2 did. Halo 2 and the community at the time was respectable, but ever since Halo became the gigantic money-bag, crowd-attracting game it is now, it's just full of trash-talkers and underaged players.
I'd want to believe that Halo 3 would have some nostalgia left in it if anyone comes back to it a few years after Reach comes out, but frankly, it probably won't. I can really only find memorable and enjoyable times in either customs or Social, honestly. It really seems like Halo 3 is going to be phased out much quicker than Halo 2 was.
It feels like Reach is going to be the Halo 3 that never was, like how Windows 7 is the Vista that never was.
TL;DR - Halo 3 was cool, but it wasn't as memorable as Halo 2. Reach will probably overshadow it quickly, and it will die quickly.
