I haven't played on any HDTV's that impressed me. Is there something special my friends and I need to do? We configured the XBOX to run on widescreen, hooked it all up with Monster cable, what else is there? Any suggestions on good HDTV's?

You need to provide some more information about your setup. Do you have a HD pack on the X-Box? Are you connected with component cables? Does your TV support 720p? Have you enabled 480p,720p and 1080i in the dashboard?

I have a Hitachi 51S500 and it looks GREAT in HD. Even games that only support DTV (480p- most XBOX games) look much better and those with true HD support look great.

I know they have said that Halo 2 will not support true HD resolutions but I am hoping that they will at least make it widescreen...

Do the PAL Xboxes support HD? It's not on my dashboard, it just lets you change the screen size.

No, they do not. It is a bit of a mystery why Microsoft chose not to allow it, but PAL XBOX does not do HD. Sorry...

You need to get an HDTV adapter. Costs like $19. Just hook that up to ur HDTV ready TV, and its high-definition city.

PAL is the European version of the US's NTSC. Just different encodings for dvds.

Slave - Some of your questions have been answered but I will sum it up here...

PAL - European video standard - if your are in the US don't worry about it.

HD Pack - An audio/video pack that you connect to the back of the XBOX. It is necessary if you are going to get HD (720p, 1080i) on your XBOX (or even 480p for that matter.

Component cables - Three video cables that connect the HD pack to the TV. They are normally colored red, green, and blue. Again, you MUST use component cables (not just "good components") to get any HD.

Once you are set up correctly you should have an option to enable 480p, 720p and 1080i in the dashboard as well as the widescreen option. Only then can you see what the HDTV is supposed to look like with the XBOX.
