Subject: Halo 1 Visual Flair a Joke Now.

For the entire Halo 1 Community left... I would like to say it did mean something before you turned it into crap.
You Fail
It was meant to show the Halo 1 Players who bought the game before hand. Hyped it before hand and made it look like and exclusive item just for us old time halo 1 players. Not for little kids to go buy for 20$. Your pretty much said a big FU to the old time Halo 1 Pc players because you can buy us for 20$ You fail and the first lobby I get into we will say everyone with Halo 1 Flairs because they bought them and never stepped foot into a Halo 1 Lobby/ Why even give it too use now? It mean absolutely nothing anymore. It lost all prestige.
People saying they bought the game just for the campaign? LOL good joke. You can't tell me they bought the game and never stepped one foot into Halo 1 multiplayer?

Once again they try to make a quick buck....
Why don't you do us all a favor and give us another Halo PC Game, but like always the Halo PC community is @@@@ on again. Also was Halo 2 Vista PC a joke or something? LOL

I agree that it's frustrating that people who have never or will never play Halo PC are going to get the flair, but Sawnose justified the decision pretty well. This is going to help more people who have had the game for years than the few who will now go out and buy it.

We're still cooler than them ;)

I have owned the console version since a week after it debuted, why should I be forgotten?

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Bungie lied about not having anything to do with developing any part of Halo 2 Vista.

They really could've validated people who actually bought the game, because both Halo 2 Vista and Shadowrun had the same Server sided authentication, meaning they could differentiate from the GFWL exploit.

They really could've allowed H2V, but they ignored it like the p.o.s it is.

Great job Bungie on making True Halo 1 players as worthless as those who bought Halo 2 Vista.

Halo 2 Vista is the biggest joke of the Halo IP, I mean wow,
can Halo 2 be any worse? and yep they did a good job at that. /rant

They could've given Flair to those who purchased Halo 1 from XBLM, atleast then Bungie and Microsoft would've gotten alot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Exactly, when Bungie was coming up with this idea of visual flair for Halo: Reach, and they decided that there should be some way to show that a player owned Halo: CE, Halo 2, and/or Halo 3. Did you all seriously think that they wanted to give the flair only to those who played Halo PC?
No, the purpose of the flair was to show that the player had simply played Halo: CE. The only reason they made it "exclusive" to Halo PC was because it had an effective "proof of ownership" method while the Xbox version did not.

Like it or not, we are going to buy Halo PC. And when we play Halo PC, please don't treat us with hostility. Why? Because we're playing Halo PC. Isn't that what you want? Don't you want us to enjoy Halo PC just as much as you have?

Sawnose has an interest in the Halo PC community and wanted to give them something to thank them for their loyalty (just look at the first time the flair was mentioned).

It was intended for Halo PC players, not for 'Halo' players.

Of course, he could have just done nothing at all. That would have saved him a lot of flaming on his forums if you guys had never known about what you could have gotten in the first place.

edit:

I mean really now, how much do you think sawnose went out of his way just to get this piece of flair idea off the ground in the first place? I don't know if someone of a higher power went right up to him and asked if he could do something, or if he had to squeeze through because he just loves us so much like one big family. But either way you shouldn't be flaming, they could have skipped over using Halo 1 recognition entirely. Then what? you wouldn't know because no one would tell you what could have been.

This is simply because there is no way to know who played the Xbox version. It is the only reason they were excluded.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

I find this insulting. I just picked up Halo PC yesterday. It was NOT for the flair in Reach. It was PART of the reason I got it, but for the most part it was because I had wanted it for years but never got around to buying it.

In part, I do agree with the original poster.

I think the Halo 1 and 2 flairs could have been kept as a secret, so those who hadn't played them in the past couldn't just hop on now and claim the rewards.

But this wasn't meant as some super reward for those who 'supported the PC version' it's just meant as a bonus for those who played the original Halo. The fact Xbox users are excluded for this makes it unfair, just as it's unfair that only those who played Halo 2 ONLINE get the reward.

Many people who've supported Halo since the begining only owned the game on the Xbox and many long time players stuck to the campaign or lan parties. So why should it only be the online and PC players who are rewarded? It's a flawed system, and I think the way they've handled it is the most fair.

It's hardly unfair that Xbox users are excluded when there's not really anything they could have done to include them.

Same goes for not allowing those who only played H2 offline to claim the flair.

To allow anybody to claim them at this stage, regardless of past loyalty undermines the entire point of the flairs in the first place. Great, so Xbox only players can get the original flair but why would you want to when it's lost all meaning? Not having the flair will prove your Halo roots just as much as having it.

"a ken its gd but fuk me nae need t rub ur nipples about it calm the beef min"

Sega's awesome.

Eh, I wouldn't get all worked up about this though. I can say I bought Halo 1 for the PC back when it was fairly new around 2004 or so and the rest of you that also did can also; the flair is just an extra little thing Bungie is doing to reward those who do own it. Even though some will rush out to get it now just to get the flair, who knows, maybe the Halo PC community will fluctuate again because of it.

  • 08.24.2010 12:38 PM PDT

I'm not going to lie I'm going to go out and buy it but what i will say is i should have done this a long time ago can't wait to get into some halo 1 MP while i wait for reach.

There are not enough existing Halo PC copies hanging around for all the kiddies to run out and grab up so they can have the flair. It will still be less frequent than most of the other flairs.

In case you didn't know, all these people just now buying Halo PC aren't going to get the flair in Reach.

To clarify, OLD keys work. If you ever used your key (technically, to enter the multiplayer game lobby, since that's what validates the key) at any time from 2003 until a couple months ago (May?), you should be ok. We won't be allowing NEW keys, because we'll assume they were keygenned.

Don't believe me? Read this.

And if you read the most recent Bungie update you'll see that was retracted when they found out that fake CD keys made from key-gen's won't work.

Anyone who has a Halo product key, whether they've been playing online for years or simply run off and buy it in 5 minutes will be able to get the flair. As long as it's a legit copy.

Also, I don't really buy into the idea of "proving your roots" by not getting any reward at all. I maintain what I said before, it's a flawed system. I don't see how this is any worse than announcing you'll get something from playing Halo 2 before it's final day - suddenly a lot of people started playing Halo 2.. More than anything else, this sounds like a case of jealous kids who don't want anyone else playing with their toys.

It helps people like me who has played halo on the xbox from the beginning, playing at my aunts house, then I got the PC version, played it (not as well as the xbox though) and was soon after given that magical xbox (which I prefer, no disrespect to you hardcore PCers).
At my young age of 10 I was incapable of ever figuring out how to play online with the PC, and to be honest slightly scared. So this whole happening is a good thing, and to be honest I'm sure plenty of people jumped up to play halo 2 when they heard they would get some flair, when they had never before played H2.

  • 08.25.2010 10:51 AM PDT

G/T: Stolenghost

If you really played halo : Pc for the sole intent of showing others how devoted you were, maybe that was an incorrect approach.

so you can't flaunt the fact you've been around. somebody call the
WHAMBULANCE!!!!! i've been playing halo since it came out, only reason i bought an xbox.

I've been playing the game longer than PC, seeing as the xbox version is a few years older than the pc version. so in terms of loyalty, or devotion, give me MY GOD BLAMMIN FLAIR, not yours.

FLAIR FOR EVERYONE!!!!

plus all the young'ns switched their accounts to try and get 50's so NONE OF THEM have their H2 flair,,, which means the HALO flair is the hotness

i'm sorry, was being kidding about you

  • 08.25.2010 11:47 AM PDT

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting. I love the Marathon Trilogy.
Halo CE will always be the best game in the Halo franchise. What a perfect game.
(Proud LONGTIME owner of the PC and Xbox versions of Halo CE)

I am offended by all the people going on to get Halo PC just for the flair. Its a shame really. I still play Halo online to this day....but I am glad I will be able to get the HALO flair for having stats for all three games.
