"Team shoot the wraith!"
"What's a team shoot and what's a wraith?!"
"It means we all shoot at the big blue thing together!"
"Okay!"
*starts betraying blue teammate*

Let's just pretend that you woke up and during the day when you went to play Halo you found that you were absolutely TERRIBLE.
Your average BR is a 7 shot and you can't strafe for your life. You try to snipe like you're playing COD by swinging your reticule around like mad. You can't lead your rockets. You can't make callouts. You have no idea what the hell to do when you see someone with an OS.

What would you do to try to get better?

Damnit.
I was hoping someone wouldn't say that.

Dragon Ball GT is the bane of my existence
I love Pokemon, Dragon Ball, DBZ, and DBK
"Where did you get that muffin?"
"Muffin button."
'But I didn't install a muffin button."
"Then where did I get this muffin?"

Aim and shoot.

Well, its true.

How can you get better unless you

1) play better people
2) let better people offer you friendly critiques & pointers

Even learning some really simple stuff like how to time power weapons can make you instantly improve, regardless of how bad your snipe/br/rockets/callouts etc are.

There are any number of ways to improve but playing with/against better players is the foremost, in my opinion.

take your time. try to hit every shot, dont worry about rate of fire, or winning. eventually u will hit every shot, then u work on your speed

Thanks though

Heres an easy tip to improve your individual shot:

Download the Octagon, zero respawn mod, and FFA variants.

Turn your sensitivity to a high setting, like 7 or something. Play for a couple minutes. Then return your sensitivity to its normal setting (should ideally be 3 or 4) and trying playing.

It should be easier to consistently hit shots.

The thing is, even though you should be playing with/against better people, you dont want them to be too good where you cant even get a kill because that wont help you out at all. People who are only better than you by a margin is best, that way you can have close games which will help you get better then you can move on to tougher competition

Boredom Spree for all!!!!!

RFMD!!!

Learn from your mistakes, take a second to remember what happened in past situations that are similar and make a different choice.

In addition to this, personally I think when improving your BR with the Octagon variant and map Kirby has linked, puttin on 25 or 50% shield leech helps when playing as it makes kill times longer and forces your BR to be more consistent.

Going into matchmaking with players that are better than you helps to because you can watch what they do and listen to their advice while you play alongside them.

In default games, there are lots of little things that can make or break a game, like picking up equipment (especially bubbles and regens) or sometimes swapping your AR for a brute shot or PR.

  • 08.23.2010 8:33 AM PDT

I remember when I was like this.

I played customs with better players and learnt from them. I lowered my sesitivity to improve my BR and I just practiced to improve my aim.

READ FIRST PLEASE! Please stop sending me Group invitations, it's not that I don't appreciate it it's just not going to work out for me considering the variables, Time zone differences, Mentality, motivation etc, Thank you for your consideration, Rtma Eros Paragon out.

I've been playing terribly lately, nothing worth playing either, I guess it's mentality and for good reason, Lag, low self-esteem, lack of enthusiasm and motivation.

Play against better players than yourself and try to learn things when you get killed by them.

I myself have no problem with any weapon but the sniper, I always seem to miss by a millimetre, it's really frustrating wasting four bullets on one guy ... :/

  • 08.23.2010 8:38 AM PDT

I don't care if your better than me or worse. At the end of the day, I still say "good game" after every match. Whether I got a steaktacular on you, or the other way around. Shut up, play the game, and try to show some decency when you do. Because if you don't, all it does is make you seem like you have the maturity level of a 12 year old trying to impress his friends.

I agree with everything.... but sometimes you do need to play against people worse than you, you know, to get your confidence up, but other than that yea...

and I play on 10 sensitivity, and i actually USED to play on 2...

once i got used to 10 though, for me anyway, it actually wasnt fast enough... lol

but just depends on you playstyle i guess
