Hey guys <3

Does anyone know how to do sound effects in sony vegas similar to the ones they did in halo 3?

Ya know, the ones mainly with cortana, where she sort of fades in and out with a weird echo type effect aswell

If anyone knows, has a link or any general advice it would be appreciated :) I need it for a video xD

Can't you see I'm Busy!?

Reverb is probably your first port of call. I don't know how Sony Veags works but here is my advice:

Make a copy of you chosen sound/voice on a track below the original and render it with a large reverb with a long decay.

Then as you change the balance between the original and the reverb'd version it will feel like it is floating in and out of that 'spacey' feel.

Delays can also have the desired affect, just experiment with them.

Here is another trick although it is slightly more complex. Take a copy of you original sound and reverse it. Then render the reversed version with a large reverb with plenty of tail-off. then reverse the sound once again. then line up it and the original together so that any words are happening at the same time. The effect you will get from this is that the reverb will start BEFORE the sound and build up to it. A very effective trick to make dialouge/sounds spooky and 'other worldy'
