2nd accounts are for kids who's parents won't buy them new games. So instead they use w/e lunch money they get and buy 1 months to satisfy their lack of attention span by beating on guests and new legit accounts. Seriously if you're that bored, buy a new game. If your parents won't give you money get a summer job, mow a lawn, do something. If you're over 18 and you're making 2nd accounts that's just pathetic. "It's fun, and I was teh bord!" Really? At 18 you're bored? What you don't work? You're not going to college? You don't have social relationships to tend to? You don't have a gf/bf to keep you busy? You don't have a job to buy yourself a new game? "Oh but i was teh bord!" Seriously. That's why these bad kids don't improve, because they go in and beat on guests and never get better.
This is an insightful albeit harsh response. The majority of the people I play with that are good enough to have a 50 and also have second accounts is to play with lesser skilled friends... err... like me... and not ruin the experience for them by matching 40-50 high. I don't think I myself will be making any additional accounts myself however.
I do think a LOT of players kind of miss the point of the trueskill system, though this is not entirely their fault. The system is set up to match people with similar skill levels so that we can have fun and challenging matches regardless of skill. The problem comes with that little number beside our rank. We WANT it to go up. We are trained after years of gaming and socialization to achieve and advance. We aren't satisfied with anything less than highest level. Especially in terms of games. We are trained to complete, and not having that 50 means we haven't COMPLETED the game. Never mind that that is not the purpose of the trueskill system. So some people get frustrated with their lack of advancement, create a new account, and rank up quickly.
I'm glad Reach will fix at LEAST this problem. Divisional placement in Arena will satisfy those that want to achieve, and the trueskill system (which is still in place) will still put together good challenging matches. And with fewer second accounts, people will more often play with those that are at their level, whatever it is. Won't solve the issue of "teh bord" teenagers though.
