Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but have just read the article which you can find on this link:

http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=readyforhalo&a mp;p=467313. [This is the story about how we'll prepare ourselves for Halo 2 launch day]

The article goes into a lot of detail as to the gaming modes available in Halo2. If this article is to be taken at face value as a geniune piece of advise, then it's clear to see that there will not be an offline system link co-op mode.

Yes, it'll be split screen, but why have it split screen when ID and Doom3 have demonstrated that full screen system link co-op is possible (when the Xbox version comes out).

Of course, it will not stop me from buying what will be one of the best games ever, but as someone who does not yet have live and who geniunely loved the co-op experience, why couldn't Bungie push the boat out just that little bit more?

Maybe because Halo 2 isn't Doom? Think about that concept.

I hope you're right.

Can't help but feel tho' that the surprises will come in the form chracters, story line etc. Surprises that will be really big and generate a lot of talk. I can't see system link co-op being a major area that Bungie will use to take its fans by storm

Will keep fingers crossed tho'

I think he meant co-op system link.

As far as surprises go, I had the hint that anyone could record their game play and save the footage to a folder, which you could later access for replay.

"Maybe because Halo 2 isn't Doom? Think about that concept."

Useful point...really gets to grips with the topic. Try considering the notion that the technology obviously exists to allow 2 co-op players to play on full screens, therefore giving the players the opportunity to enjoy the game environments in the way they were intended.

Your comment suggests that if it's not Doom it cant have full screen co-op. Since when does the fact that it is Doom dictate that no other first person shooter can have a full screen co-op...think about that concept
